Backlinks from HTTPS adresses

I did a search of the Q&A and didn't see a direct answer to this, so here it goes! Is a backlink from an HTTPS address valued the same as an HTTP?

If the site in question is indexed at Google under the https method rather than http, then yes, it should provide the same value as an http indexed site. a quick inurl: https; check just now brought back over 1.6 billion pages. Random checks of various keyword rankings for queries that contain a mix of http: and https: brought back a number of them where https: sites ranked higher than http: sites, including some with site links and multiple entries as well.
Also, I've got a couple financial institution clients who use https: and haven't seen any more difficulty ranking them through typical SEO methods. Which just reinforces that belief. If anyone here has had differing experiences I'd like to hear about it as well of course...

SEMrush Backlink Damaging SEO?
I did a test recently with a sponsored article for some of my products, including my most popular product (https://www.spaceanswers.com/sponsored/sponsored-wear-a-piece-of-the-universe-with-the-space-collectives-meteorite-jewellery/) and it just so happens that recently this very product dropped from 2nd position to 51+, I have since managed to restore it to 6th position but I am wondering if this article is damaging my efforts? SEMrush is showing a page score of 4/100 and a trust score of 3/100, which is obviously very low. Is this helping or hurting my SEO?

How long google & roger need to notice backlinks

Concerned about quality of backlinks - should I take action?
I regularly work on websites to which previous SEOs have built questionable backlinks. This morning I've just been analysing some backlinks - found 40 odd were coming from 20 odd websites which all had the same gentleman as personal registrant, who happens to be the boss of an SEO company. The SEO company name is mentioned in registrant details too, and often on the websites in question (including weblinks from some of these 20 odd websites to the SEO company). I did note the IP addresses / hosting for these websites did vary though, as did the postal address of the individual in question, perhaps throwing Google off the scent a bit. I should add that these websites are virtually all tourism related/themed, with up to a few dozen backlinks per page - usually articles. It's very clear they are backlinking to keyphrases. Now, this kinda thing<a></a> sets the alarm bells ringing. Firstly, this looks like an infringement of Google Webmaster Guidelines. Secondly, it doesn't sound like a White Hat technique for building links! Am I correct? I guess it might be denied they are partner pages due to the quality of content, perhaps, which isn't as spammy as it might've been. However, I suggest these are at least paid links because there is no other clear way of getting content on these pages, as far as I can see.<a></a><a></a> Should I demand these backlinks are taken down? What level of risk is posed do you think? I don't want this website to suffer a Google penalty at some point, particularly not after I've started work on it. Can You Rank Without Backlinking?
With all the new emphasis on on-page metrics and social metrics, would it be possible to rank well without putting much emphasis on backlinking if your content is significantly better than the rest of the ranking pages? Say #1 to #5 are pages of 500 word generic content. We come in with 2,000 word specific, high-quality content. Can we get by without spending as much time/energy on backlinking? Would the on-page factors make up for it, or has the game not changed that much?
