Good platform for SEO and CRO
-
From Seomoz thread it looks like many mozzers favor WordPress when it comes to choosing a platform that is optimal for SEO.
While I agree I would like to ask your opinion on platforms for CRO.
Which platform do you think works best for SEO practices and CRO posibilites? It would be great if employees that don't have expert knowledge in PHP and HTML would be able to move contact forms around, places different banners next to the blog post depending on what content they post etc.In this case the meaning is that the website will be built by a professional and used by all different kind of employees with various web design / coding skills.
Have a great day everyone!

DiscoverAfricaGroup is correct IMO with, "...If you have your standard bloggers with little HTML/programming/Graphics design skills, wordpress is the way to go..."
What I would suggest is for you to get really clear on what CRO you want, then decide which plugins are best for you, and train them on that set of plugins. An example is the ubiquitous Contact Form 7. Easy to use, install, etc.
Now, make sure they understand about the database and shortcode pieces as well as they help. Obviously, for CRO, if you don't keep a database of those who have contacted you, you might not be as optimized as you think.
By training all on one and keeping it simple, you make it easier on those who don't naturally lean to dev or design. You help them in that they are not having to 'work' at something they are totally unfamiliar with all the time. With other CMS, there are advantages, but for this use, WP would be great for you. Get a dev to assist in what would be simplest, etc. then institute that set of plugins for use.
Also, remember there can always be issues with any plug in on any CMS. Make sure you track to see if you are losing some traffic, etc. on a regular basis or you will wake up one day and say, "We haven't gotten any contacts in two weeks and we were getting X/day." Ouch, been there.
Best,

In terms of SEO, any CMS can be optimised for SEO /CRO benefits so it essentially boils down to the size flexibility and style of the website you want to set up.
In my experience, Expression engine is great if you have developers and graphics designers working on your site. (which would be built from the ground up, custom templates etc)
If you have your standard bloggers with little HTML/programming/Graphics design skills, wordpress is the way to go as its the most user friendly platform in my opinion. (Free and paid templates available for download)
As mentioned, any CMS can incorporate SEO/CRO best practices, its up to the type of website and the skills you have at your disposal.

SEO and Conversions from a C-Level perspective
Hi guys! Do you have any suggestion about articles about how to work with conversions and SEO from a C-level perspective? I know it is very open question, but there might be articles like (https://moz.com/ugc/how-can-pr-seo-and-ceo-people-work-together-for-link-building) that are great and written on this subject. Could you please share if you have any examples? I'm thinking for these perspectives: What knowledge and insight does a management team need to take control and drive the SEO and CRO related work (from a executive level)? How do the management team connect business strategy and goals with the SEO and CRO area? Have a great day!

Especially any company offering more than one service. Just for example, a training company of any kind. Literally anything that comes to mind will help me so, so much. My Google-fu is failing me on this one.0 -

CRO - Who are the best sources on this topic?
I've got a good handle on SEO and am starting to offer my clients CRO services to optimize on the traffic I'm bringing to their websites. I know the basics of CRO, but have no idea where to look online for authoritative websites on the subject. What are some of your recommendations on websites to take advice from?

Which eCommerce Platform?
Dear MOZ community members We currently run a custom built IIS/ASP/SQL Server system that is starting to fall apart and needs major overhaul. I'm currently evaluating a number of open source eCommerce platforms (Magneto, OpenCart) and would welcome any advice that some of you may have. We are not a major brand, but we have a good name in our field which we wish to maintain and we ranking very well for our top phrases despite not having SEO-friendly URLs amongst other things. I've downloaded Magneto and installed it on a LAMP could server and got it up and running. It looks very flexible, albeit a little bloated and I can concerned that it's a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Do any other small businesses have experience with Magneto? Thanks for your time! andy www.prendas.co.uk

Conversion optimization with Optimizely, impact on SEO
I am looking into signing up with www.optimizely.com for conversion testing. They put scripting on my site which will then redirect half of my site visitors to an alternate home page. The site I want to test on is ranking quite well with Google and I do not want to hurt my rankings. And with this set up,what Google will think is my home page is not and so I am essentially sending visitors to a different page than Google reads as my home page in source code. So, my concern is whether this will have a negative impact on my SEO rankings to redirect 50% of site visitors to a different page using this testing tool? I would use Google Web Site Optimizer, but many of my sites are in Wordpress and it seems that Wordpress and web site optimizer are not so compatible. Advice would be appreciated. Thank you, Robert
