DA/PA against PR
-
Hi,
Very quick question.
If the DA/PA of a website is 70/80+ I would assume the PR would be 5+.
I have come across this DA/PA 70/80+ and PR 2.
First is the DA/PA not connected in anyway to PR from the metrics they take into account?
Secondly which one would you go for if you had to choose one:
1. DA/PA 60+ and PR 2
2. DA/PA 30+ and PR 4
Thanks

Thanks,
Also I misunderstood your answer so apologies. Indicator works for me.
Thanks again, very helpful.

DA/PA is a good indicator. Not any more than that though. I didn't say i wouldn't consider it. I said I still maintain that I wouldn't base my decision on it.
Can someone please explain how you would manipulate the PR to be higher then it should be?
The most common way involves 301ing to a higher PR site until it reports the higher value, then removing the redirect. The usual reason for this is to sell links of the fake PR site until the next toolbar PR update.
Worth being aware of.

Greg has hit the nail on the head with this one.

@Mat so you think the DA/PA value is not something to consider when researching a website? Because that kind of puts me in a hole as I use those metrics to give me a rough overview of how power full a website is.
Just so everyone knows I get these kind of mixed metrics a lot when it comes to researching for guest blogging.
I do really need to know if DA/PA can be trusted as a good indicator a website is good or not (For building links).
-
That example is a bit different as it has been faked. PR is often faked on blog networks that are build for link purposes.

I have come across this many times.
Have a look at this one.
www.becitywise.com/ PR7 DA6!
I tend to trust Open Site Explorer much more when comparing the two.

SEOMOZ's DA/PA are independently derived figures based on similar concepts to Google's pagerank. The two are totally independent of one another, but there is correlation because of concepts they share.
Secondly which one would you go for if you had to choose one: 1. DA/PA 60+ and PR 2 2. DA/PA 30+ and PR 4
Both . Actually I wouldn't base my decision on either metric. I'm finding all such metrics to have even more limited value this year. I'd much rather look at the site itself and what links to it.

Moz Crawl Test: WordPress sites with and without /feed and /trackback entires?
I have multiple WP websites and on some of the websites, on my Moz Crawl test, I see an entry for every blog post but also entries for /feed and /trackback for that single blog post. For example, www...com/someArticle www....com/someArticle/feed www...com/someArticle/trackback 1. Can anyone explain why the Crawl test is picking up the /feed and /trackback items? Is it simply because they are 301 redirects to the original post (www...com/someArticle)? 2. What setting(s) in WordPress are making this information appear? Or is it just that the site(s) that have the /feed and /trackback are displaying "normal" behavior for a WP site with a lot of trackbacks and feed entires? 3. Should /fee and /trackback, as well as /author be blocked in robots.txt? Thanks in advance for your advice and input!

Rankings reporting showing inaccurate improve/decline/unchanged numbers
Our rankings report is showing inaccurate numbers for the improved, declined, and unchanged summary, both in the email and on the site. According to the added up numbers, we have 315 keywords in the campaign, but that's not possible as we only have 172 set up for it. The total for this section is correct, it just doesn't add up.

Press Release - using moz bar/OSE is reading domain not page? How? Why?
A question posed by Christopher Glaeser from early today:low PA high DA, had a follow up response from him providing 2 urls from PR WEB for separate press releases: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/11/prweb8923419.htm (HP White) On moz bar Page Analysis/Link Data = PA - 47 DA - 36 http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/12/prweb9051351.htm (Golfer's Advice) On moz bar Page Analysis/Link Data = PA - 1 DA - 96 I kept scratching my head as to how a press release of 6 weeks ago had garnered such attention from a company that would not seem to have a huge traffic due to more obscure product offering and scientific subject (Analyses of Armor Industry versus Golf Advice).

Then I realized that for HP White, Link Data was not about the PR. The url from mozbar was HPWhite.com not the above, I did not notice until I used OSE where same thing was happening. When I cut and pasted the above press release url for HP White and placed it in OSE this changed: PA - 49 DA - 96 (2 links 2 linking root domains) For Golfers advice (0 links from 0 linking domains) Note to all: the links to the PR WEB release for the HP included a low end directory type link and a link from PR WEB (. For Golfer's Advice there was not a link back to the release from PR WEB: Note that Golfer's Advice is a newer release (6 weeks). So, any link from HPWhite release would equal more juice to HP White and PR Web and Vocus. Any link to Golfer's Advice from release offers......???? to Golfer's Advice and who cares to Vocus and PR Web. So, I guess this begs a couple of questions: Why the mozbar link analysis difference for one versus the other? Does PR Web treat some differently than others? Who benefits most from me paying a PR Web to do press releases for a client, PR Web and Vocus or my client and I???? I have tried to order the images to make sense: L to R top, then bottom is last. Historical Linkscape/OSE data available?
Hey Mozzerati, I'm curious if there's a way to expose and analyze historical data from each previous Linkscape/OpenSiteExplorer (OSE) update. Essentially, I'm looking for something similar to MajesticSEO's Backlink History tool that can show you both daily links over a short time as well as cumulative links over a long period. I think the utility of such a tool is to see which competitors have gained many links over a short period, signalling that they're engaging in some form of link-building/-buying/-baiting activity. Is there any way to yield this data (other than to record it manually after each Linkscape/OSE update) from SEOmoz PRO tools?

Why would PA be 1 (0 links from 0 root domains) if it's linked to internally?
Question just about said it all: I've seen a number of pages on sites that have a PA of 1 (with the metrics being 0 links from 0 root domains) when I can see on the site that it is linked to internally - from the main nav (which is CSS, not Javascript) and also from the footer, if not other places. Why would this be? Update: upon looking further at the site, it appears that there's some kind of redirect going on, where the page linked to from the nav actually redirects to the real page. Would that eliminate PA, even if it's a 301? And additionally, is whatever is causing this lack of PA a reflection of how Google would relate to the page? Thanks, Aviva
