Cross-linking domains dominate SERP?
-
Hi,
I have been doing some keyword research and noticed two domains properly linking back to each other for almost every piece of content. I thought this was not working any longer but it looks like it works for them. For many competitive keywords, they rank in top 10, and even for some keywords, they rank #1 and #2. PA and DA not more than 36-38. With 3-4 linking root domains, these pages manage to rank in top 10.
And the second strategy they have, is to create alternative text to rank for a number of different long-tail-keywords. Seperate pages targeting seperate keywords and the only difference between them is slightly modified text and images.
Third is possibly the best, their second domain is an exact match domain name for most keywords linked to this industry. On some SERP's, they have 8-10 results in top 30.
SEMRUSH shows %500 growth for both of these domains.
So, I guess I should just sit and admire them.

It all makes sense, sir. And I have to admit you are spot on with the way they have distracted me. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.

I wasn't implying that he should make a network of sites, i meant the links he gets should be better. - My bad.
-
....do it even better.
Right... as a gamer you know the power of the superior weapon.

Just to add to that, These websites have shown you their strategy, instead of admiring them, replicate what they have done, but do it even better.
Original content like EGOL suggests, and even more relevant and stronger links, no doubt you'll be a strong competitor.

I would not worry about this being too effective. It is only one unique linking root.

If you create unique content for all of those KWs that should put you in the position of advantage.

This tells me that they have a lot of content for that KW and that there are probably not a lot of strong competitors.... but really, what is more important - the number you have in the top thirty or if you are in the top three?
So, I guess I should just sit and admire them.
You can do that if you want. From what you have shared they don't sound too hard to beat. I would go after them with a single site with lots of unique, high-quality content.

How to cross-link a network of dozen hotel booking sites
Hi, I have about a dozen hotel booking sites in different cities. All content is unique on each site and specific to its city. Is it a good idea to cross-link them all? If so, is there any strategy to follow? Some of them are older and well established sites wheres others were created recently. The goal is to improve rankings of the newer sites. I appreciate any advice. Thanks!

Redirect gateway domain to main domain?
We have following scenario: Our main website - www.esedirect.co.uk which gets a 1800 visits a day with around half of those from organic search. It's been around since 2004. Our original website - www.ese.co.uk which gets around 30 visits a day and really is nothing more than a doorway page with links to the above site and couple of other sites that belong to the same company. This is an old domain that's had content since 1997 and has good domain authority with some good links. We are considering doing a 301 redirect from www.ese.co.co.uk to www.esedirect.co.uk to redirect the link juice. I welcome opinions to any possible negative effects this could give and how beneficial doing this will be. Thanks, Lee

Cross Sub Domain Canonical Links
I currently have 1 website, but am planning on dividing it into sub-domains specific to geographic locations such as xxx.co.uk, xxx.it, xxx.es, etc... We are working on creating original content for the sub-sites, however upon launch many will be duplicate pages. Is there a problem with cross sub-domain canonical links? Thanks!

Links from tumblr
I have two links from hosted tumblr blogs which are not on tumblr.com. So, website1 has a tumblr blog: tumblr.website1.com And another site website2.com also uses the a record/custom domains option from tumblr but not on a subdomain, which is decribed below: http://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/custom_domains Does this mean that all links from such sites count as coming from the same IP in google's eyes? Or is there value in getting links from multiple sites because the a-record doesn't affect SEO in a negative way? Many thanks, Mike.
