Adwords Keyword Quality Score changes when keyword is paused
-
Today I was pausing a bunch of low quality score keywords for a client, the thing is, once I paused the keywords, the quality score would immediately change.
For example, a number of keywords that had a QS of 3 while they were running, immediately changed to 1 once paused. Out of curiosity I un-paused one of them and it remained at 1.
Has anyone else experienced this and/or have an explanation?
Cheers

I've noticed the same thing, while the initial 'insta-change' may be alarming, when you check back just a few mins later the QS adjusts.
-
David, I've been noticing this "insta change" QS as well. This is a recent change. It occurs both when you pause a keyword, and also when you change a bid at the keyword level. It also occurs on any keyword with any QS, like even 7 or higher.
While it is disconcerting I don't think it is the actual QS. As Justin notes, wait a few minutes, go back and check and you will see that the QS changes back.
They've definitely made some weird change to their algo. I find it quite annoying. Hopefully someone will realize what poor user experience this is for us, and roll back this change.

Hi David--
Exactly the same thing just happened to me this morning - I had never seen it before. Then, I just went back & took a look again, the QS's were back to 3/10 on the paused keywords. Maybe some glitch in AdWords?

The Quality Score is calculated every time when you make something with it. For example try to put to different ad group in same campign usually it gets higher score for a while. But it is not a real quality score. The real QS is calculated on base of impression and CTR.
The best what you can do is to not care about things like you mentioned - anyway almost everything which is under QS 5 in specific ad group is useless.
It is better idea to find for that keyword better landing page more structualized campaign/adgroup and write more accurate and relevant ad text.
Hopes it will help you
Best regards

Special Characters in Negative Keywords in Ads
Howdy, fellow mozzers, I came across this weird suggestion in my Bing account (screenshot link: https://dmitrii-regexseo.tinytake.com/tt/NDY3OTc5NF8xNDgyMzY4OA) It almost that the dollar sign in the negative keyword is acting like a wildcard character, or being disregarded completely. I did some tests, it seems that in Google Ads that is not happening. Does anyone have an idea if this is normal behavior? I have never seen this before.

How can I increase quality score when bidding on competitors?
I'm trying to increase my quality score when bidding on competitors. I've broken up each competitor into a separate ad group and focused on 5-10 keywords in each but my quality scores seem to stay around 3 - 5. I'd like them to be more in the neighborhood of 5-7 Currently my ad relevance is below average and feel that if I can increase that to at least average than I should see some better quality scores. Any advice on how to do this with the competition? Normally, I just focus ads around the use of the keywords but since the keywords are brand names, I can't do that with these ads.

Adding Coremetrics Tags with Google Adwords
Hello, I would like to know if it's possible to add Coremetrics tracking tags in Google Adwords while the auto tagging functionnality is on. The point of doing this is to be able to track in both Analytics systems the performance of the PPC campaigns while still having Adwords to use Google Analytics conversion data. Thanks, Guillaume

UTMZ not provided keywords
Hi everyone. We have implemented the new google ad tracking code and realized that on paid keywords we get the keyword in our UTMZ tracking cookie. However, if someone just searches a term we are not paying for we get "not provided" in the cookie. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue so we can track our keywords?

Changing Adwords campaign titles still mess up Analytics data?
Recently, Google announced an update in de Google Analytics Adwords integration that should wield out the ancient trouble caused by changing your campaign titles in Adwords. http://analytics.blogspot.nl/2013/07/new-adwords-integration-platform.html?utm_source=buffer&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Buffer&utm_content=buffer6bfb4 Two months have passed, but I still see double entries for the same campaign after a (minor) title change. Are they still busy rolling out the update to all Analytics account or is there something wrong with our Adwords<>Analytics integration? What's your experience? iO9Vafz.png?1

Adwords & Analytics Different Product Listing Results
Hi We have recently set up a Product Listings ad campaign via AdWords and have seen some impressive initial figures in our AdWords account. However, when viewing data from the same period in Analytics it shows completely different statistics. For example, from 1st-16th June, AdWords shows 604 clicks and 29 conversions from our Product Listings campaign but Google Analytics only shows 23 clicks and 0 conversions across the same period. Any ideas why these variations show? Is there any additional tracking code that needs to be inserted at all? Thanks
