PA and DA

Over the past couple of monthly updates I have notice both coming down a bit even though nothing has changed that should affect them. Anyone else notice this? Perhaps it is attributable to better metrics?

thanks very much Keri

Here's a help page about our DA calculations that may help http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/domain-authority. The short answer is that DA can change because of the way we calculate DA and because our index changes each update.

Think of these metrics as relational. As Google tweaks it' algorithm, based on what's going on in the world of search, OSE/SEOmoz might update the criteria of discounting certain kinds of links, and the flow of internal and external link juice. Their dataset also is expanding and as they read and discover more data, the overall metrics change, impacting the scores. I would relate them to your competition and see how you are doing to get a big picture rather then worrying too much about the movement within your website. It's very very useful data regardless.
I hope this helps.

The metrics are in a constant state of update I'd guess.

Forecasting DA increases after merging domains?
Hi all, I wondered if anyone had any suggestions for forecasting DA changes after merging two domains. The context is that we have two sites and there is argument to combine them into one. To cut a long story short, one of the considerations is how much DA might increase if we migrated one domain into the other. Domain 1 has a DA in the 30s. Domain 2 (which we'd redirect) has a DA in the late 20s. Around 90% of the LRDs are 'incremental'. Surely there is a way to forecast what the increase in DA would be if we decided to combine? I haven't found anything online...

My DA has stayed at 1 for an entire year.
Good afternoon. I recently got hired as an SEO for a site, and it appears that they have been stuck at a 1DA for almost a year. I've been working on them for 3 months now with no improvements. I'm not sure if this is related but they do not have a traditional ".com" address. There URL ends with ".kitchen" If you have any idea why this might be happening, please let me know.

Ideas to increase PA
I need to increase the page authority of a specific page, it is a fairly bog standard product with very little scope if any for content generation. It is indexed and ranking at position 20 or 30. Any ideas on how to increase the page authority would be very much appreciated.

Domain Change behind Drop in DA from 49 to 9?
Hi, We have recently gone through a domain change and thought we had done this by the book. We 301'd the old site extensively and optimized our new site as best we can. All done with the help of a leading agency. However our old site had a DA score of 49 and checking our new site's DA almost 3 months after the changes its scores 9! Furthermore with rankings 2-3wks after the change we saw small drops (1-3 positions), 3-10 weeks saw more gradual slides but remaining page 1 for most terms. Currently some core terms are slipping back to page 2. I have the below question on this and would like you to get your opinions and views. After a well planned domain change would its be expected that the DA score would remain in the same region or is a drop like this normal? Is the domain change the most likely cause of this drop or are there other factors that may cause this? What is the best approach for trouble shooting this situation?

Across the board drops in DA
Hi, has anyone noticed across the board drops in DA in specific industries lately? If you're tracking 5 companies in one industry it seems odd that all five would drop 2-3 DA points all at once don't you think? Just peculiar I think and would love some insight if there is some to be had / shared.

Will our PA be retained after URL updates?
Our web hosting company recently applied a seo update to our site to deal with canonicalization issues and also rewrote all urls to lower case. As a result our PA is now 1 on all pages its effected. I took this up with them and they had this to say. "I must confess I’m still a bit lost however can assure you our consolidation tech uses a 301 permanent redirect for transfers. This should ensure any back link equity isn’t lost. For instance this address: http://www.towelsrus.co.uk/towels-bath-sheets/aztex/egyptian-cotton-Bath-sheet_ct474bd182pd2731.htm Redirects to this page: http://www.towelsrus.co.uk/towels-bath-sheets/aztex/egyptian-cotton-bath-sheet_ct474bd182pd2731.htm And the redirect returns 301 header response – as discussed in your attached forum thread extract" Firstly, is canonicalization working as the number of duplicate pages shot up last week and also will we get our PA back? Thanks Craig
