Use SEOmoz API in Google Docs Spreadsheet
-
Hi,
Has anyone made functions to get link metrics from SEOmoz API in Google docs spreadsheet?
- Page Authority
- Domain Authority
- Linking Root Domains
- Total Links
_Thanks to Tom Critchlow I got the social metrics, now I just need the ones from SEOmoz api. _
Any help would be sweet.

Hey, as promised - here's Ian's post about using the SEOmoz API with Google Docs:

Thanks, awesome work

I had a play with this (having been inspired by Tom's great SEO tools with spreadsheets article) I played around with Google docs and some of the sample code to query the SEOMoz API.
(BTW I don't think all the data you're looking for is available with the free API.)
I knocked together a google docs spreadsheet that does the query, hope you find it useful as a guide till someone (Messrs. Critchlow and Lurie?) posts something more user friendly.
To use it, make your own copy of the sheet, then:
- enter your member ID and secret key in the blue cells (D1 and F1) - you can get your info from www.seomoz.org/api
- type a number into B1 for the expiry interval,
- the search query should be self-explanatory (cells A4,B4 and C4)
As you'll see from the code, I'm no Google docs expert, but hopefully you'll see how the call gets put together.

Cool. Looking forward to it.

Hey - I've been working with Ian Lurie from Portent and he has a blog post on it's way that details how to do exactly this! Look out for it in the next week or so

Variables in Google Tag Manager
Last week I got a great answer here on how to implement GTM and cross domain tracking, now that we have that in place I'm looking for some more advice 😉 I'm wondering that if we push variabels into the data-layer of GTM, can we actually use those variables in reports as well? Do they get recorded in Google Analytics? I'd like to use some data that we push to the data layer for segmentation purposes. Anybody an idea how to achieve this?

How to better track subdomains in Google Analytics?
Hello Everybody! so I am setting up a website that will have several subdomains, based on the language of the site, for example: site.com; es.site.com; fr.site.com... How should I trace this is GA but having attention that I should be able to see visits as a whole and also if I want I should be able to see visits per subdomain, anything on specific I should do when creating the account? And after creating the account, how to separate that accordingly? 🙂 Thank you all!

How can I use Google Analytics to detect users viewing my website on a TV?
I want to see in Google Analytics whether or not people are viewing my website on a TV, such as with a smart TV or other device connected to their TV. These are the only ways to do this that I have found so far: Operating system: Google TV, Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3, Xbox Browser: Nintendo Browser, Playstation 3 Are there other data points that I can reliably use to segment these users?

Google Analytics - my continuing adventures
Hello I'd appreciate views of the various metrics I'm struggling with in GA: I've run 2 different reports that provide 2 different outputs. 1. In Standard Reporting you can report in Traffic Sources on Organic Search by Keyword, which returns the number of Visits. 2. In Custom Reporting you can define the Keyword dimension and the Organic Searches metric, which returns the number of Organic Searches. This returns 2 different numbers. For example, over the last month for a given term report 1 returns 77,306 visits whilst report 2 returns 52,589 organic searches. I have found some definitions: "Visits represent the number of individual sessions initiated by all the visitors to your site." "Organic Searches: number of organic searches that happened within a session. This metric is search engine agnostic." My understanding of these definitions is that report 2 should return a larger value than report 1 rather than what is happening (i.e. report 1 returns a greater value than report 2). Does anyone have a greater understanding of what these mean and relate to? Does anyone have any views on which metric is more useful? Thanks Neil

Google Analytics
Hello In Google analytics you can obtain the number of visits as a result of non-paid search. You can also set up custom reports to find the number of organic searches. The numbers are different, so what is the obvious difference between these two metrics that I'm missing. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Neil
