Mobile SERPS: how to optimize for call button
-
Hi, I have 2 questions about the "call" button on mobile google serps when doing a business name search:
-since when is this button available in SERPS
-is there anything specific you can do to actually have google display that call button (schema.org, ...)
Kind regards
Pieter

Hi Pieter,
They are google local listing results, on a mobile device the number is displayed as a call button.
You will need to setup a Google Places account (which is now integrated with Google+) and get it to rank in order to show up with a call button in the SERP's.
I did a blog post on Google Places Optimisation that you might find useful.

Wrong domain name showing in the SERP
I work with Axos Bank, and the domain name in the SERP started showing axos-services.com a couple of weeks ago. *As a test, search for [axos bank] in Google. You may need to click on "Search instead for axos bank" under "Showing results for axis bank" which is a whole separate issue we want to resolve. They do own axos-services.com, and it redirects to axosbank.com (along with a number of other domains). The SERP has always shown axosbank.com until recently, but the redirect has been in place for some time. Any idea why and how to prompt Google to show the correct domain? Thanks, all!

Optimizing a Forum (phpbb3)
Hi all, Over the last 6 months our small forum has be getting a tiny bit of traffic. We would like to make the forum a larger part of what we are offering (content wise). Regardless, I am wondering if anyone had any recommendations for optimizing a phpbb3 forum as Moz seems to keep telling me that I have 70,000 pieces of duplicate content, duplicate pages, etc. While the site crawl by moz outputs varying results week to week, it appears to be tagging posts and responses to posts as duplicate content. I am concerned that Google may be doing the same. Additionally, are there any recommendations for best practices related to forum meta descriptions and page titling as well? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Jared P.

Will Google Also Penalize Desktop Rankings If Your Site is Not Mobile Friendly?
Apologies if this question has already been answered. I was unable to find it. For desktop organic rankings: Will Google take into consideration mobile-readiness as a ranking factor? Thanks in advance for any reply, Kind regards,

Mobile website question
Hi Mozzers, A website I manage has a mobile friendly version of their main website and a /m version as well. I was wondering if anyone had any experience in the best way of handling this? Should we just get rid of the /m version and tag the mobile friendly version? Thanks!

Hi, A client of ours has a website with a manual spam action (duplicate content). Because they made some mistakes with redirects while moving the site from a URL to another google penitalized the site. We fixed the errors and the spamction is revoked. My question is how long it ussualy takes before the first results are back in the SERP. In WMT Google says "some time". But has anyone got some more information on it? Best Regards, Sam

Site blocked by robots.txt and 301 redirected still in SERPs
I have a vanity URL domain that 301 redirects to my main site. That domain does have a robots.txt to disallow the entire site as well. However, for a branded enough search that vanity domain still shows up in SERPs and has the new Google message of: A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt I get why the message is there - that's not my , my question is shouldn't a 301 redirect trump this domain showing in SERPs, ever? Client isn't happy about it showing at all. How can I get the vanity domain out of the SERPs? THANKS in advance!

Should i change the url name for serp plural from singular to plural please advise
Hi, I have an established ecommerce site online since 2008 when I set it up I did not really think about it and i called it mywidget. However the traffic is minimum 10 times higher for plural and all the long tails ie bluewidgets, cheapwidgets are all plural. I rank very well on the widget but not widgets - I know there is more competition but still it would be best to have the most commonly used phrases in the url. Now I have registered mywidgets should i transfer my shop to mywidgets and setup a permanen redirect 301 for all the products url and categories. I'm guessing I will be negatively impacted in the short term but in the long term it should be worth it. Would you agree sorry its a massive decision for me and any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks
