Link Analysis shows no external sites linking to me?
-
Hi All, I hope you can help. Link Analysis shows no external sites linking to me? but I know for a fact there are. Why is this? I have submitted my site to a few local directories and can see my site is on their site but when I run a Link Analysis it shows that I have no links. Does anyone know why this is? Many thanks, Aidan My site is http://www.theethicalsilkco.com/

It can take a couple of months for links to show up. Our server farm isn't as big as Google or Bing, so we don't crawl as fast or deep as they do. They'll know about links before we do. It probably just needs a little more time is all. If links still don't show up, it could be because they're on pages we haven't crawled yet because they are lower quality, or just buried on a site. For example, we don't show all of the links from Twitter -- we just don't have the power to crawl all of Twitter and still crawl anything else!

Seomoz takes longer to calculate the links and they do not have every URL indexed. If you look in your Google webmaster tools, SEOmoz's Open Site Explorer and Majestics backlink checker (http://www.majesticseo.com/) you should get most of the indexed backlink data you need. Keep in mind that you might place a link on a page today that may not get indexed for 6 weeks.
Also, have you submitted a sitemap to Google?
-
Boom! There they are. 29 results.
So, from this can you tell me none of these are showing up in my Link Analysis report or when Google stated that it had not indexed my site in over 90 days even though i used Google Fetch only 2 weeks ago and it came back successful?
I bet you reject answering my initial question
Thanks for all the help thus far

Hey AIden, my mistake... Inurl only shows parameters within URLs
Try this instead inlink:www.theethicalsilkco.com this command shows your indexed links.
-
Sorry Donnie, But you are going to have to hold my hand through this
What should I be seeing when I use this operator? I see 4 results. I see that Google has not visited it in the last 90 days. I should request this in WT no? I used- link:www.theethicalsilkco.com and got no results. I presume that this means that no-one is linking to me. Although I can see 2 sites that link to me: http://www.rte.ie/radio1/todaywithpatkenny/2010-12-16.html www.independent.ie/lifestyle/christmas/five-christmas-presents-that-keep-on-giving-2444715.html Thanks, Aidan

I took out the "http://"... here type " inurl:www.theethicalsilkco.com/ "

Hi Donnie,
My URL is a few years old but I re-did the site approx 5 months ago. When I do the same search I get 2 pages of results. That's with me signed out of Google.
But all these results are my pages.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks again. Very much appreciated
Aidan

SEOmoz can take some time to index a new site... How old is your site? It must be fairly new because I also tried finding your links in google (by typing inurl:http://www.theethicalsilkco.com/ into the search) and only two results came up...

Links from other sites in our network
I work for a large publisher with many websites, and it's common for our biggest sites to link to smaller sites within the network. These links are follow, site-wide, anchor text-optimised footer links. I think it's obvious that these links are harmful to the smaller sites that are being linked to, but it's hard to convince others of that, particularly because the toolbar PR benefit is very obvious. Do you think it would be better to: a) Remove the links completely b) Keep the links, but make them nofollow c) Keep the links (as it's not harmful) Thanks

Keyword links are not showing up in majesticseo or open site explorer
I've been doing link building by writing good content and getting other blogs to post my articles with keyword links embedded. One example is: Original article: http://www.cleanedison.com/blog/setting-the-stage-for-greenbuild-2012-1997 Re-published article: http://www.renewableenergyfocus.com/blog/2012/11/7/guest-blog-setting-the-stage-for-greenbuild-2012/683.aspx (Keyword is LEED Certification - it goes to http://www.cleanedison.com/leed) I have 2 questions: Why isn't this backlink being found by majesticseo or open site explorer? Why isn't my original article showing up a google search at all? P.S. Overall, despite my best efforts, my keyword rankings have been falling recently, is there anything obvious that I'm doing wrong?

Disavow and link analysis
I am trying to work up a list of Domains to disavow from old SEO black hat (long time ago) and I think some recent bad SEO against the site. I found a few good articles here and started the process. Very daunting even on a site that never had a lot of link work done on it. One particular issue has my attention and need advice on what to do with it. I find 100s of backlinks that all resolve to the same IP 72.215.225.9 . Has anyone else seen this one. These are sites such as mengems.com or http://www.downey-realestate.com . I am using NetPeak Checker to grab stats on the backlinks after gathering backlinks for 5 different sites. These site all seem to come from Majesticseo and sure enough if I ping any of them they return 72.215.225.9 on at first and then go not found. They return a 200 in NetPeak . I was hoping not open thousands of backlinks to see if they existing before I create my Disavow list. Couple of questions. 1. Any harm in putting these on the disavow if in fact they really don't exist anymore? Do the disavow police not like your list being longer than it needs to be ? I am leaning to just leaving all of them off my list. Seems I read something that says dont ask google to disavow something that no longer exists because they are not penalizing you for it. 2. If I start with the most egregious Bad and ex-black hat domains and submit them, wait 3 weeks and the Penguin hit rankings do not recover at all then how to add to the list. Do I leave all the original disavows on the list, add to it and resubmit ? 3. My first thought was to simple send a list of all domain that have no Google indexed pages regardless of return status code. Basicly saying please clean the slate of this crap.....thoughts on this? Thanks jw

Drop in the external links
Hi, We notice a sudden drop in our external links over a month (May to June). The numbers have fallen drastically from ~55K to ~28K.The followed linking root domains has changed from 781 to 776. I am using OSE to download the inbound links data an analyse, however the downloaded csv lists only about 25 links from every domain so I am unable to figure how we have lost the external links over time. But, the Domain Mozrank has seen a gradual increase. Now I suspect the reason for the DA of our site to fall from 58 to 57 is mainly because of the external links loss. Am I right in assuming this? Is there a way to figure out the lost links? Please help! Thanks,

Is it Better to Link to an Article or Post it on my Site?
I have a client who has a few articles written about her and posted on different news-related sites. She has asked me to capture these articles (we have permission) and create a section on her site for them. My question is this... From an SEO standpoint, would it be better to link _to the _articles, post them on her site or both? Or, maybe there's an even better way I'm not thinking of. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kirk

Mobile sites link strategies
Hi, I am working for a large mobil-site (+200.000 pages), to improve their SEO, and am trying to figure out the best way to set up a linkbuilding strategy for the site. The urls are very dynamic and often rather long so deep linking is difficult. Any input/ideas would be welcome 🙂 Jens Peter

OSE - why are some external links not showing up?
We use PRWeb for our press releases and carefully choose the anchor text with a link back to our site at metrix.com. This year, we've put out about 8 releases, all with these links included. However, when I drill down to prweb.com in Open Site Explorer, I'm only seeing one link coming from one of those releases. It is definitely an external, followed link when I highlight the releases with MozBar, and I don't see any other differences that would help explain this. Can anyone explain why these links aren't showing up? Thank you.
