Images on Social Media - Can they be Optimized?
-
My company has been sharing images on its Facebook and twitter outlets which are getting a lot of shares. It seems to be the only thing really working for us. Is there a way to optimize this or use it to our advantage for our website? Or is this just something that will help me gain some edge rank in Facebook?

Tiffany,
The sharing and retweeting of your images will definitely help you gain edge rank, the specific applications, but if you're looking to optimize your site using both Facebook and Twitter you have to remember that Facebook is mostly closed off to Google.
Twitter has started closing off other companies as well, but it still does get crawled a bit from Google. What I would suggest is Tweet a picture then also attach your brand's name to the Website. Maybe like this, "Like this? :insert image: It's available now at Tiffany.com" It won't give you a lot of link juice but it will give you some especially if it's shared a lot.

Right now they are literally just motivational quotes or funny HR quotes (if you could believe it).. I've attached one.

Well, as long as it's building your brand and your facebook/twitter brand pages are getting the credit, without actually seeing the media assets, it would not be possible to say if there are any other opportunities. If you'd like, you can share it here or send it via a private message and I'd take a look.

Most valuable things that clients can do for us SEO-wise?
Hi One and All! We're launching a new site which provides listings for businesses, and being that it's very early in the process and we're building up our presence we're offering our services for free for now. In return though we would like to request that our clients exchange the free service we're providing for things which will help our SEO to develop faster. I've thought of things like following/liking social accounts, maybe even backlinking to us in a blog post if they have a blog, but does anyone have any other ideas about what other beneficial things they can do for us, and which things are most beneficial? Thanks for Advice!

Can You Aggregate Likes from Pages on Your Site to Your Homepage?
I think the Facebook widget is great for social proof if you have a lot of people who like you. (the widget that shows faces of people who like you) Let's say that you create a resource that gets 100 likes. Do those "Likes" only count at the page level or can they be aggregated into a total "Likes" count that you can show on your home page and on the Facebook widget? Or are "Likes" in the Facebook widget only for people who like your Facebook page? (not those who "Like" your site).

Myth or Fact: Social Media Dashboards Bad for SEO?
I want to start using HootSuite to pre-schedule Facebook/Twitter updates, but am plagued by nagging concerns because I have heard that HootSuite may impact SEO in a negative way. Is this truth or bull? If it i true, how so, specifically? And can anything be done to mitigate the negative SEO factors? Also, does anyone prefer another dashboard over HootSuite? Thanks in advance for your inputs!

Social Noise - what counts?
Getting social signals is important it seems now. Is having a facebook comments box on your website where people can comment worth any social noise? if it posts to their facebook page its only seen by their friends, not google. So basically wondering do you get social signals of people commenting on your page in a facebook comments feature?

Should each domain have it's own social media ?
Hi, were in the process of creating multiple domains and sites for each country we plan to operate in, should each site site have it's own set of Facebook, twitter you tube accounts etc? I realise this will create more work in administrating each site and corresponding set of social media accounts, but does it have benefits ? As we'll need to do it anyway in different languages, does separating the English languages accounts make any difference carry any benefits? Thanks,

How long until Social Spam achieves the same notoriety/problem as Link Spam used to be
What are people's thoughts on whether or not social spam will become a major problem soon, just like forum profile/blog comment spam, etc, and what do you think the search engines will do about companies that are blatantly gaming the social signals game I.E. since social proof seems to be google's answer to combating anchor text manipulation and content farms, what do you think will be google's answer to combating the rampant social spam that will surely overtake us.
