Removal request for entire catalog. Can be done without blocking in robots?
-
Bunch of thin content (catalog) pages modified with "follow, noindex" few weeks ago. Site completely re-crawled and related cache shows that these pages were not indexed again. So it's good I suppose
But all of them are still in main Google index and shows up from time to time in SERPs. Will they eventually disappear or we need to submit removal request?Problem is we really don't want to add this pages into robots.txt (they are passing link juice down below to product pages)Thanks!

If your intention is to keep the page for "follow" I would not submit a removal request for the page since that will wipe it off the map. Google needs to crawl your page to know you don't want it indexed.
As I said, Google already re-crawled them and they are not re-indexed. Last cache dates show all is correctly lef out of new indexation.
I guess my concern was how long this pages will stay in index. That was done to make sure Panda will be able to recalculate the value of the site.

Things can take a while, sometimes many months before its not indexed properly. Google also has a disclaimer that it could possibly keep the page indexed for a while.
Also you have to make sure that you do some post things after the removal is made to ensure it never comes back

Can you have an SSL cert but still have http?
I was under the impression that if you got an SSL cert for your site that the site would change to https. I ran this site: http://thekinigroup.com/ through an SSL checker and it said it had one...but it's http. 1. Why didn't it change to https? Is there an extra step there that needs to be done? 2. Is there a reason someone would choose to get an SSL cert, but not have https? Thanks, Ruben

Ajax Crawling | Blocked URLs Spike
http://www.zando.co.za/women/shoes/ (for example) Hello, I'm concerned that WMT is reporting a large spike in blocked URLs - now reporting more blocked URLs than good URLs. Our product recommendations get generated via an Ajax call and these autogenerated, unique, URLs are rendered in the /recommendations/ folder which sits in the root of our site: http://www.zando.co.za/recommendations/ I can't see how I can prevent Google from calling the Ajax - I can only assume that's what's happening. This is what the code typically looks like:

Can't find mistake in robots.txt
Hi all, we recently filled our robots.txt file to prevent some directories from crawling. Looks like: User-agent: * Disallow: /Views/ Disallow: /login/ Disallow: /routing/ Disallow: /Profiler/ Disallow: /LILLYPROFILER/ Disallow: /EventRweKompaktProfiler/ Disallow: /AccessIntProfiler/ Disallow: /KellyIntProfiler/ Disallow: /lilly/ now, as Google Webmaster Tools hasn't updated our robots.txt yet, I checked our robots.txt in some ckeckers. They tell me that the User agent: * contains an error. **Example:** **Line 1: Syntax error! Expected <field>:</field> <value></value> 1: User-agent: *** **`I checked other robots.txt written the same way --> they work,`** accordign to the checkers... **`Where the .... is the mistake???`** ```

Ambiguous Response to Google Reconsideration Request
Hello, On 9/11/12, we submitted a reconsideration request to Google for http://macpokeronline.com, at the time we received penalties from both penguin and manual removal. We have since worked on cleaning up our link profile, and got this response from Google: We received a request from a site owner to reconsider how we index the following site: http://www.macpokeronline.com/. We've now reviewed your site. When we review a site, we check to see if it's in violation of our Webmaster Guidelines. If we don't find any problems, we'll reconsider our indexing of your site. If your site still doesn't appear in our search results, check our Help Center for steps you can take. I honestly don't even know how to take this, we always showed up #1 while doing a site search, so it is kind of irrelevant to us in this case. Is this the reply of them accepting our request? Thanks Zach

Robots.txt Question
In the past, I had blocked a section of my site (i.e. domain.com/store/) by placing the following in my robots.txt file: "Disallow: /store/" Now, I would like the store to be indexed and included in the search results. I have removed the "Disallow: /store/" from the robots.txt file, but approximately one week later a Google search for the URL produces the following meta description in the search results: "A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt – learn more" Is there anything else I need to do to speed up the process of getting this section of the site indexed?

Robots.txt and robots meta
I have an odd situation. I have a CMS that has a global robots.txt which has the generic User-Agent: *
Technical SEO | | Highland
Allow: / I also have one CMS site that needs to not be indexed ever. I've read in various pages (like http://www.jesterwebster.com/robots-txt-vs-meta-tag-which-has-precedence/22 ) that robots.txt always wins over meta, but I have also read that robots.txt indicates spiderability whereas meta can control indexation. I just want the site to not be indexed. Can I leave the robots.txt as is and still put NOINDEX in the robots meta?0
