Pager + SEO - Is it possible?
-
Hi, I am having this issue.
I know that pager are not friends with SEO, but I want to know which is the best to do in this situations.
for example, I work in a news company, and I have a lot of news pages that are very extensive so I use a pager.
Well here I have the problem.
suppose that the url is www.mysite.com/news/id/here-comes-the-title
When you enter that URL you are viewing the first page that has this meta:
title
keywords
description
Now, the problem comes when the user goes to the page 2 of this news article.
What I shall do?
1- Change the url to www.mysite.com/news/id/here-comes-the-title-PAGE2
www.mysite.com/news/PAGE2-id/here-comes-the-title
www.mysite.com/news/id/PAGE2/here-comes-the-title
2- in the page 2,3,4,5 ... add a meta robot noindex?
In the option 2 I think that I am loosing the opportunity to index the body of my article.
Is this correct?
Thanks

On your pager anchor, I don't see the rel="next" & rel="prev" attributes:
On the link you sent above, the pager control at the bottom of the page should has the below markup, but you need to add a rel='prev' attribute to it.
_[anterior] _
Similarly the below link needs to have a rel='next' attribute added.
The title looks OK. Personally, I'd make a small adjustment and not connect the hyphen to the last word.. So I'd change this: Suena Tremendo-Pagina-6 to this: Suena Tremendo - Pagina-6

great!
Now I have that working. I will remove the noindex from that page.
Can you check it here http://www.espectador.com/suenatremendo-pagina-6
Thanks

From GWMT Blog - There's no need to mark page 2 to n of the series with noindex unless you're sure that you don't want those pages to appear in search results.
Regarding the page titles - the rel="next & rel="prev" do not solve the duplicate title issue, so you would need to alter the tiles on the subsequent pages. I would just make the page titles unique by adding something like this after the current title (assuming you were on page 2): ' Page 2' or ' Page 2 or 50'.

and what about the title and the meta robots?
-
I would recommend using the rel="next" and rel="prev" tags in your pager control: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2011/09/pagination-with-relnext-and-relprev.html
In regards to the URL, I'd just put a '/{page#} after the main article URL.

Wordpress pagination and SEO
Hello Mozzers, We have incorporated Wordpress blog in our website. The blog has a fair share of what we believe is a valuable content both for the users and SEO. We have reached the point where our content is getting pushed out to pages 2, 3 and etc. 99% of the older content is still relevant and useful. However it does get less traffic from the users because it is not on the front page. I am dealing with it by showing "related posts" and get some traffic through that. I feel that the content that got pushed from the front page of the blog gets less love from search engines as well. The my permalink structure is /%postname%/ only, however when Wordpress adds page/1/ the SEO ranking appears to drop. Is it because Wordpress adds page/1/ to the address? What is a good way to optimize is? I have 15 posts showing on the front page should I increase it?

Could schema.org and GoodRelations be bad for SEO?
One of my clients is going through a redesign and I am considering implementing schema.org and GoodRelations as it is an e-commerce website. The site sells cutting edge products and competes with some of the top tech blogs for rankings on the first page. Essentially, this means that e-commerce product listings are competing with news stories. It is becoming more and more difficult to rank as Google puts more emphasis on news over products in the serps, especially prior to a product release. My concern is that in implementing schema.org and GoodRelations, detailing to seach engines that this is in-fact a product page and not news could harm rankings. What opinions do others have on this?

How To SEO Mobile Pages?

I use wordpress for my site, and there is a nifty plugin called WP touch http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wptouch/ What it basically does is, it converts your desktop version into a mobile friendly version. I wanted to know that if it does that, does this mean whatever SEO i do for my regular web site gets accomplished for my moible version as well? Another simple question is, if i search for the same term on my mobile phone then on my desktop how different will the SERs be? thanks moz peeps

Entry based content and SEO
My E-commerce team is implementing functionality that allows us to display different content based on what channel and even what keyword the customers used to reach our page. This is of course a move that we believe will strengthen our conversion rates, but how will this effect our organic search listings? Do you guys have any examples of how this could affect us, and are there any technology pitfalls that we absolutely need to know about?

SEO Friendly Calendar System
Does anyone have a recommendation for a calendar system that is SEO friendly? I have been using Helios Calendar but the current version lacks proper SEO bones (canonical URLs, mini calendar generates links to empty events from 1950 to 2020, 302 re-directs, and it is generating thousands of crawl errors in Google Webmaster Tools. The developer has plans to implement some fixes, and I would rather not rip apart what is currently there to fix core issues. I have found that calendars in general are a nightmare. If anyone has any suggestions, or has experience in tidying up Helios I would be interested. Thanks, Dan

What are SEO factors in re-doing a website?
Most of my work now involves converting older websites to CMS-based sites (in Wordpress) and I'm wondering about best practices here. If I create a "dev" or "sandbox" directory for my development work how do I keep the pages from being indexed while I am working on the new site? Can I "noindex" a directory? What do I do with the old html files when the new site goes live? I'm assuming I will do a 301 redirect from domain.com/index.html to the new domain.com/, and also on all of the inner pages that have equivalent pages in the new site. But there will be a lot of old files left that have no equal in the new site. Do I just delete these, or noindex nofollw them?
