      I currently have one main .com site and am planning on launching geo-location subsites .co.uk, .com.au, .ru, etc...

      Traffic will flow between both sites and some of the content on the subsites will be duplicate and therefore include a canonical tag to the main site.

      I want to set up GA to capture who is going to the subsites and vice versa and correctly capture crossover traffic.  Any advice on implementing advanced analytics directly (or links to sources that will direct me the right direction for this project)

        Hi,

        I'm not sure, but what you could do for the third type of links is getting the domain from the redirect you mentioned and create a (virtual) pageview in between. So that you know somebody is redirected before.

          That is very helpful. I have 3 different types of links from the main site to the subsite.  2 of them are addressed in the article but the third is not.  Do you have any suggestions?

          1. Links from the menu on the main site to subsites ==> We need to add the  onclick="_gaq.push(['_link', ... to enable the cross site tracking.
          2. Play picking during play confirm ==> We need to add onsubmit="_gaq.push(['_linkByPost', this]);" to our postback on the page.
          3. Play picking using 302 redirect when the play.aspx request page is loads ==> Here it's not clear what we should do to handle the cross site tracking when a user is moved from site to site using an http redirect.  (The 302 redirect is being implemented because for business reasons we need to redirect users to different sites based on their location and we don't want Google to think we are being manipulative)

            Hi Sara,

            I would suggest taking a look at the cross domain tracking functionalities of Google Analytics, the documentation about this could be found here. By adding an extra filter to your Google Analytics profile you're able to prepend all the URLs with the current domain. This will give you the ability later on to analyze the traffic crossing the sites.

              Attribution of conversions to payment gateway in Google Analytics

              Hi all, We have been having a problem for a while now where most transactions are attributed to referrals from our payment gateway Sagepay. The issue started a couple of months ago, when we finally upgraded our website to https:// for logged in users and transactions. Before, when we were using http://, transactions were attributed to the correct channel. Even weirder, we upgraded 4 websites and only 2 of them have the issue now, the other two continue to attribute transactions correctly. I added Sagepay to the referral exclusion list which made no difference. Over the weekend, we upgraded to the global site tag and it seems to have improved somewhat, but yesterday 50% of transactions were still attributed to referral/sagepay. I am also seeing an odd issue, where for half of the transactions, the revenue and transaction are attributed to one channel, but the products (quantity) are attributed to another. One of the channels is always referral/sagepay and the other is the channel that the transaction should be attributed to. Has anyone seen this issue before? I'd appreciate any tips that might help us fix this issue. Thanks in advance!

              Google Analytics - Average Position

              Hi Just trying to get some clarity on Google Analytics Average Positions in "Aquistions/Search Engine Optimisation". For a very competitive keyword Google Analytics is saying i am on average position of 6.  Is this Page 6?  I am assuming position six would be 1.6?

              Direct traffic spam on Google Analytics: how can you identify and filter it?

              One of my smaller clients noticed a huge jump in direct traffic visits last month.  The bounce rate was around 97% so I'm pretty certain that most of the traffic was illegitimate.  I know how to filter out spam referrals and organic keywords in Google Analytics.  However I'm not sure what to do about direct traffic spam.  Are there recommendations for filtering this out?  Can I identify spam IP addresses?

              Google Analytics - Organic Search Traffic & Queries -What caused the huge difference?

              Our website traffic dropped a little bit during the last month, but it's getting better now, almost the same with previous period. But our conversion rate dropped by 50% for the last three weeks. What could cause this huge drop in conversion rate? In Google Analytics, I compared the Organic Search Traffic with previous period, the result is similar.               Google Analytics Showing Inflated Product Revenue

              Hi- For the month of Feb on two of our sites we are seeing inflated product revenues. I have not seen this before and I am not having any luck searching for answers. Here is the issue: Product B sells for $159.95 For the month of Feb we sold 3 thus revenue should be ~$479.85 GA is showing Product B's revenue at $3,360.00 I read online that sometimes folks will bookmark the receipt page and that can cause this and we would need to put a catch in place for this but I am guessing this is not the case as it is happening on two sites.
