Google indexing https insted of http pages
-
Hi!
First of all i have a Wordpress portuguese languagem website (**http://**bit.ly/TGjpVx).For a while, for security pourposes, i had a SSL certificate installed on my website but i didn't renew it, for a few months now. I didn't have any special https page. All pages responded using http or https.
My problem is that it seems that Google still indexes some o my webpages with https and not http, so when people click on it they get a bad cached page. No good for SEO, i think.
What can i do about this? I only want Google, and other serach engines, to index my clean http pages (about 70 pages).
Thanks,

Hi!
Substitute my lines your yours or just add yours?I also found this post (**http://**bit.ly/S5dN4) regarding this same issue. Is it possible that de SSL certificate, even do it's a invalid one, gets served before any redirect?
Regards.

Hi
It's correct but you can try so:
RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} 443
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [R,L] -
Hi Maurizio!
First, thanks for your answer.
I have a linux based hosted website and i tryed changing the .htaccess file (see below) but when i click on an indexed https page it isn't redirected and i don't know why.
...
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} =on RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.yourdomain.com/$1 [L,R=301]
...
PS: obviously, i have my real website domain insted of 'www.yourdomain.com'.
Regards.

If i understand better you can do a redirect with .htaccess if you have a linux hosting or directly with IIS with Windows Server, so when someone found your index page (https) and click over, will help the redirect.
Example:
Index page:
https://www.yourdomain.com/page.html
REDIRECT------------------------------------->
http://www.yourdomain.com/page.html

Too many on page links
Hello, I have a page that isn't ranking very well. http://nicontrols.com/uk/drives-motors/variable-speed-drives According to the MOZ research tools I have too many on page links. I believe most of these are a result of the advanced filtration options on the left hand side of the page. I don't want to remove the filters as they are extremely useful for customers but I am also worried about the number of links Anyone get any ideas about the number of links? Should I care?

Local on-page SEO
If it feels like you are doing something wrong, then you 'probably' are... Local on-page SEO When optimising a page for local SEO, and trying tick all the usuals boxes, you find yourself adding words like 'golf clubs leeds' which sounds awful when part of a natural paragraph of text. Does Google recognise this poor use of grammar? We try to be as creative as possible, as not to offend the visitor, but it feels wrong... any advice? Thanks

How much SEO value does a fashion site get from bolting text onto the bottom of home page? Does the value compensate for cluttering up a page focused on an iconic image?
Getting ready to launch a completely redesigned site for a fashion designer. Since it is a fashion site, visitors do not need text to describe what the site is about., We are weighing three options: 1) clean design with no text (just images and navigational links), 2) bolting on a couple of sentences of text at the bottom of the page to signal keyword terms to the search engines, 3) following the lead of the top ranking site in the category and adding lots of text to the bottom of the page. Do the SEO benefits justify cluttering up the design by bolting text onto the bottom of the home page, and if so, how many characters of text seem to be the minimum to be effective?

Web Page Refresh
Hi there, we redesign our Website, changing it for a jquery based version. This new design is much more usable and nice for our users, however the average page views for user decreased a lot. Basically this is due to the fact that once the user is logged in, it spends most of the time in the same Web form which is updated through jquery without refreshing it. We were thinking about adding a meta refresh tag, or ad some javascript for getting this task done in order to get the relation page views/visitor increased. Do you think refreshing the page every 4 minutes could be penalized by Google (or other Search engines) ? Which should be the interval between refresh ? Would it be better to make it very explicit (i.e. adding a meta refresh tag) or using a kind of hide javascript ? We want to increase the pageviews but of course, we don't want to get penalized

Does a page's url have any weight in Google rankings?
I'm sure this question must have been asked before but I can't find it. I'm assuming that the title tag is far more important than the page's url. Is that correct? Does the url have any relevance to Google?

A website has several wigets to show Each wiget with its own page The wigets mostly just vary in size How would you suggest titles be done? Example: Wiget 1ft Wiget 2ft Wiget 3 ft an so on........ Would this trigger a duplicate content issue given “Wiget” leads in the page title?
