Has anyone changed domain after "unnatural link message" from Google?
-
We received a "unnatural" email from Google approx 6 months ago and have tried removing all links but it is proving to be near impossible - has anyone undergone a domain change and moved their sites to get rid of the penalty?

thanks

OK well the Disavow tool if your friend in this case.
You can read more about it here if you wish, and I have some links at the end that will be of use:

Hope that helps,

we did yes....
-
That's a shame Jason - can I ask did the drop happen at the same time as the warning? If not, it could be a nasty coincidence that you were hit with an update at the same sort of time.

our site dropped for all main terms......
-
Absolutely - Try the new Disavow tool in WMT - this can take a few weeks for the crawl to happen, but should prove less of a headache than going down the route of changing domain.
Also remember, a warning doesn't mean you are being penalised.

I agree with Marcus, it really sounds like you need to consider the disavow tool. I would assume since you have been working on this for 6 months you have a lot of notes about what was done to try and get links removed which will certainly help with your disavow.
I would also like to add a link to the Matt Cutts from Google YouTube video regarding this tool.

I have not done this, but in theory, this should be a way to start again. Of course, you could always consider the Disavow Links tool as an alternative.
If you are going to move domains, then I would do it gradually in the following stages:
1. remove all the current site from the index
2. change domain
3. reindex the site
This will remove any kind of penalty but it is starting from ground zero again so the Disavow links tool may be a better option if you have tried multiple reconsideration requests but made no progress.

Buy domain, redirect, get all the good links (+link juice) and disavow the spammy ones?
There is a domain for sale that has a quite nice profile and a lot of good backlinks, but also quite a few spammy ones. This domain has a Spam Score of 14% acc. to Moz Link explorer, ours has only 2%. My questions: 1. The domain and the good backlinks are related to or close to our content/keywords. But we are worried whether the "spammy" ones will hurt us. Does anyone has experience with this? 2. Would it help if we disavow the spammy backlinks afterwards? And if so, how do we do that? Add new domain to search console, disavow the bad links and then redirect the entire domain to our domain or redirect the domain first and then disavow from our property? Many thanks for your help!

How to make Form Type Links have "Nofollow" attributes
Hello guys, in doing an analysis of our website using SEMRush, we discovered that there are Form Type links from some of the business websites connected to our website with follow attributes. SEMRush has identified them as toxic backlinks. What is the proper HTML code structure for setting Form Type links with nofollow attributes?

Are Millions of back links from 3 domains bad?
I have a client that has 4 individual domains with duplicate content mirroring certain sections of the main site as well as the home page. I understand the duplicate content issues but have a different question that I would like advice on. I am seeing 3 of these domains back linking to the main domain causing over 5 million backlinks. Is this bad and can it hurt rankings? One domain has 3,215,658 backlinks and another has 1,553,947 backlinks. I have experienced this in the past with a different client, where sister companies back linked using the exact same anchor text caused over 5 million back links. This client experienced a drop of their top 2 keywords where they dropped from # 1 & 2 positions in Google SERPs to the 82nd position. Appreciate feedback

Linking to press coverage, reciprocal links?
We have been generating decent online press coverage with links to our site thanks to our PR agency and I have been asked to link to the online coverage from our website in a 'press coverage' section. My question is would google consider links from our site to the online press coverage as reciprocal links? Thanks

Domain extensions and link building
Hi, If you were trying to rank your website for a search term in Google UK, would it be more beneficial to build links from .co.uk websites then any other? I have read on Hubspot if your targeting UK rankings then link building from .co.uk domains will have a good impact on UK rankings? Thanks

Google webmaster tools Who links the most updates?
Has anyone ever seen in the section in GWT "Who links the most" actually update. I have sites listed in there that had me on a blogroll so I had 93,000 links to me and they removed those links months ago but GWT still shows that number of links. Does anyone else actually see those numbers go down as links are removed?

Bloggers "no_follow"
Hi Guy's, We have been sending bloggers products to review and in return we ask for a link back to our website to the relevant product. As I now understand it, Google is no longer giving this any weight & bloggers are being advised to use the "no follow" tag. So have I understood the new rules correctly? If so is it worth us continuing to send bloggers products to review? Thanks Daniel
