Keyphrase / Keyword arrangement
-
Hi all,
What are your thoughts on the arrangement of keyphrases / words? For example, does it make a difference if the words are arranged in the following way:
"Keyword 1 Keyword 2"
or
"Keyword 2 Keyword 1"
Both ways make a phrases which is favourable in the search engines. Can I stick with 1 way or should I be going with both arrangements.
Hope that is clear

I try and get as many keywords in one keyword as possible.
"Dog's tasty chews" has "Dog's tasty chews"* and "tasty chews"
"Tasty chews for dogs" has "Tasty chews for dogs", "tasty chews" and "chews for dogs".
The first one only has 1 variant that is "dog specific"* to the product (chews), the second has 2. I don't put an adjective after a noun, the word "for" keeps cropping up in my keyword research as being useful.
I go for singular (people aren't looking to buy your whole stock just one item from it).
"Piano" 450,000 Global exact match, low competition.
"Pianos" - 27,100 GEM high competition
Awesome!

Hey Brett,
Try this recent post on Searcher Intent:
http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/searcher-intent-my-main-focus-when-it-comes-to-keyword-research
I would say arrange for how it makes sense for users/searchers and not necessarily for search engines at all. Look to the audience and you'll be on target IMO.
Hope this helps!

How to hold a variable constant for an A/B test
For example, let's say you want to A/B test a title tag change. You are hoping to identify whether a title tag change increases CTR. But, position is always fluctuating a bit and that affects CTR, too. So, I'm interested in how you could hold position constant in order to isolate the change in CTR that is due to the title tag change. Does anyone know of resources/tools/tutorials for how to do this? It's been... a very long time since I took statistics (-: I have access to Excel, MS Access, and R studio.

If concepts are too similar when grouping keywords what do I do ?
I will summarise and then ty to explain : When I group keyword with the keyword explorer if concepts (grouping keywords) that I find are too similar to each other how do I go about it... Ldg me know explain. When google doesn't have enough data to rank a website with content does it only use links ? Let me give you an example. If I take "title tag" as a keyword people have a lots of questions that can be answered which will create numerous concepts. However, let's take "hiking tours Italy" for example. If I go through the keyword explorer or all the other tools existing out there people don't have questions. All I find are variations or synonyms of my keyword and I group by low lexical similarity all the words are going to be very similar. I know that each variation can be grouped and considered a different concepts but writing about various concepts that mean exactly the same thing because of lack of data not very smart and useful... So in that case what does google do, does it rank a website only based on links or schema ? see that it has no way to rank it based on good quality content because of a lack of data (questions that could be answers that would lead to concepts). Thank you,

At the same time, in the same web site it exists an other page better optimized for one of this keyword, that it would obtain a better position in search engine. The problem is the famous "Keyword Cannibalization", Can you help me with any suggestion to address Google through this defined page when people searches this keyword. Thanks, Giulia

Keyword as domain- worth buying it?
Hi, I just noticed that a top keyword for our industry is available as a domain, but for around $2,500.00 USD. For example, www.chicagoplumber.com. If we already have a pretty well established online identity as, let's say, www.chicagopipes.com, would it be worth buying the new domain and making it our primary? Thanks for your feedback! -Will
