Why Breadcrumbs don't work on my web page?
-
I tried 2 types of breadcrumbs plugins. Last - Yoast
Breadcrumbs. But result is the same - they don't show up in the footer. I
followed direction and made settings - result is the same. Any ideas?Thank you!

Awesome, Nadejda! Cheers, Jon

Thank you! But were I will find a code?
-
Thank you Jon! I will do this!!!

I did not see the Yoast breadcrumb code in your source code. Yoast's plugin does not automatically enable the breadcrumbs. Were you aware? You'll need to add the code to generate them in your template files.

Hey,
It's likely you have a conflict in the theme - I see you are using http://www.artisteer.com for example. Don't know if that's the issue or the main one.
But when I have these issues, I would create a "vanilla' version and test the breadcrumb feature, and add plugins and themes back after you've verified it working. That way, you'll see when and what breaks it.
So - do this:
-
disable current theme, enable basic wp theme (that comes out-of-the-box)
-
deactivate all plugins
-
activate just the plugin that deals with breadcrumbs
-
test it
-
start adding plugins back
-
add the theme back
You may want to create a separate test domain for this if you can't "play" with your existing domain.
Finally - ask this - "Am I adding breadcrumbs for users or search engines benefit?" I often see folks adding breadcrumbs because they think it will help their SEO. Think about this: A 2-level depth structure in your website doesn't need it, for example. Plan out your architecture/navigation first, make it "user friendly" - and don't use breadcrumbs as "patch-work" (that's what this feels like, but I have not checked your site)
Sorry for being so direct.
Cheers, Jon

Competing for a specific keyword beyond on-page factors
Hello, I am trying to rank better for 'keyword X', a critical query that I'm outside the top 50 for, though we grade out at an A via Moz's on-page grader. One of our main competitors ranks #1 for this keyword, despite not using 'keyword X' once in their meta title, body content, or image tags. My assumption is that the volume and quality of backlinks to the competitor's site is driving their high ranking. If this is the case, how can I identify backlinking opportunities to compete better? Are there other factors I'm overlooking here? Thanks

Can't remove and can't disavow...
Wondering if anyone could help me. A client is suffering a Google penalty at the moment which is harming their performance. That said it is properly the best penalty they could have got..the site has a penalty which is stopping them ranking as high on keywords which they have been spamming links for. I say the best penalty they could have got because, other than these keywords, the site is still performing as well as before in the engines. Have been trying to clear up the backlinks for the past couple of months and just when I think im winning I discover some 32,000 blog comments on one domain 6 weeks or so ago!! - [http://www. iimpact.co.uk/blog/about?ss=%25&replytoc&rep&d=http://8;d=http://166",.moveForm("comment-1628", "1628", addComment.m&replytocom=265](http://www.iimpact.co.uk/blog/about?ss=%25&replytoc&rep&d=http://8;d=http://166",.moveForm("comment-1628", "1628", addComment.m&replytocom=265) example url, I broke it on purpose as to not make it a backlink With that many links i will not even try and contact the site, I put in the disavow in google that there is no way I can get these removed and explained it etc, however, they, again, rejected the reconsideration request saying they are still not happy with the links. At a bit of a loss here. It's starting to look that the best approach will be to write off the half a dozen terms and go a little more long tail. The site will not rank for (this is an example as would not want to give the client away) door knockers. They used to be first page but now are page four. However they remain page one for terms such as brass door knockers, cheap door knockers, chrome door knockers etc. In WMT ranking report they have hits from 1200 words ranking in the top 5 in the past 30 days and 3000 in the top ten. Im a considering trying to up the rankings of these words at the expense of the ones which we cannot seem to get the penalty off. Any thoughts please.

Removing links from rubbishy 'blog' sites
I need to remove around 800 bad links, probably about 500 domains as a very rough estimate. These were built by a previous link building company. Here some example domains: http://globalweddingblog.com

http://womansonlineblog.org I have already tried emailing a hundred or so with a manual link request - with zero outcome. Hardly surprising when you consider the types of sites they are. I've had a quote for a link removal service, but I'm not sure if it's wise to pay someone to do this work - not sure what resources/tools they would have above and beyond what I can access and there could be increased risk. Any advice?0 -
Article distribution do's and dont's
I recently spent the day writing 2 400 word+ articles and have submitted them to x1 article directory. I want to know if it is ok to submit the same articles to more article directorys?

Blog snippets on home page
Mozzes, We're running a real estate portal in which we have a pretty good news/blog section running on wordpress. It's placed into our LAMP site on a dash from our root URL: www.ourportal.com/news/ To attract traffic via our landing pages we publish article snippets from the blog, linked to the complete articles. What would be the optimal SEO here to lead the spiders to the orignal content? Follow, Noindex? Best Johan

Outbound links and their pro's and con's
So I was wondering if there was a general consensis regarding the amount of outbound links you have coming from your domain to other domains and if there is a correlation between the more you have going out, the more (for want of a better word) damage you can do to your domain. EG: is a site with good domain authority better to keep the short leash on handing out links to external sites? Does this make the link juice from the site more valuable?

One keyword per page?
I have a health insurance lead gen domain. One of the keywords I want to rank for are "student health insurance". If I have a related keyword like "aetna student health insurance", is it better to include that keyword and backlinks with that anchor text to my "student health insurance" page or do a separate page for that keyword?
