Social signal
-
I wanted to know if comments on my blog count as social signals. I'm getting a minimal amount of shares and tweets but mainly having success with people commenting on the actual blog posts. I wanted to know if Google sees this as a social signal; not necessarily to help with rankings but to increase authority of my site. Thank you.

I know the likes and plus +1's help but for instance: i have a blog post that has 0 tweets 4 +1's and 19 comments. Do the 19 comments help build authority for the page in anyway similar to getting +1's and likes?

From my understanding it's best to noindex comments on your blog. However adding the social media buttons are a signal, if people like your post and 1+ it or like it this will help you rank.
Here is the article that tells you the best way to set up wordpress but same rules apply to most sites...

Getting Authority Social Blogs to Index
We have a few authority blogs that I manage to help increase our brand awareness and build power to our website. We have Blogspot, Wordpress, Tumblr & Typepad. Our content get's a summary syndicated to our authority blogs with an attribution link back to the original post. I also manually check them one a month to make sure it looks good and the content syndicated correctly. I even add unique content to these blogs once in awhile. I recently realized that the majority of the pages are not indexing. I added the blogs to our GSC & Bing webmasters and submitted the sitemaps. This was done on December 11th, as of now some pages indexed in Google and Bing says the sitemaps are still pending... Blogspot - 32/100 pages indexed Wordpress - 34/81 pages indexed Tumblr - 4/223 pages indexed Typepad - 3/63 pages indexed Can anyone help me figure out why I can't get Google to index more pages or Bing to process the sitemaps timely?

No Follow for Social Media Buttons?
Our website has all social media buttons for Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ are located in the footer of all pages. These links are set to "no-follow". Running an SEMRUSH audit shows these "no-follows" coming up as an "issue". Is it best practices to set these links to social media sites as "follow" as opposed to "no-follow"? I am somewhat concerned about losing link juice but perhaps that is an outdated point of view. Any thoughts?? Thanks, Alan

Click to Expand Content - Does anyone know if Google discounts this as a ranking signal ?
Hi All, I read an interesting answer from Tom Roberts on another question and one of things he mentioned was that there are conflicting reports about "Click to Expand " Content being discounted with a link to the article - https://www.seroundtable.com/google-hidden-tab-content-seo-19489.html My eCommerce uses this method on every landing page and tabs on our products pages so I am wondering if others had first hand knowledge of whether using these methods had affected their sites or not ?. I may try to experiment on a few pages to remove this and show all content at the bottom but it does kinda ruin the pages a bit so I wanted to know what peoples thoughts were before I screw up my pages and think about page redesign etc etc. Also , if I was to try it ,then how long should I experiment for ?. would a couple of weeks be sufficient providing google crawls them regually thanks Pete

Social Impacts on SEO? How to Do this?
I'm new in SEO and heard by one of my friend that social signals are important for SEO of a website. If people have shared a website's url on their twitter, then it will automatically get rank in google. Is that true and how google sees this social sharing? and how can I do this for my website?

Managing Subsidiaries. Should I house them all in a single domain? What about a single social media presence?
Situation: My company has 8 subsidiaries. They each have their own niche (IT, Electrical, Roofing, etc...). We also have offices in multiple countries (If that's even a factor). Questions: 1. Should I establish a web presence for each one? (www.SubsidiaryOne.com) I would then link to these sites from www.ParentCompany.com. The other options are to do something like www.ParentCompany.com/SubsidiaryOne or SubsidiaryOne.ParentCompany.com. We are trying to build the brand of the parent company so I figured that housing everything inside of the parent company domain would help me meet my goal. Each company will have its own unique content, products, blogs, etc... 2. Should each subsidiary have its own social media presence (Its own Google+, Twitter, FB, etc...) or should I house them all under the umbrella of the parent? Thanks, Alex

Mission Possible? You have 3 hours to do Local SEO. Which top 5 sites do you go Social Bookmark, Local Search Engine Submit and Directory List.
Mission Possible? Here is a test. Suppose you had 3 hours (okay 7) to go and submit links, etc, on Social Bookmarking, Local Search Engines and Directories, which top 5 or more of each would you do? (Assuming your on-page is already sweetened). I just got 2 more clients and I need to get started on a few things for each. Thankful for all your advice.............

Can you pass social signals with a 301 re-direct?
Does a 301 re-direct pass social signals such as 'likes' 'tweets' and '+1s"?

Social bookmarking, many or a few?
so I was wondering if you think a bit of software such as bookmarkingdemon (or similar) would be worth investment, or just a couple of "proper" accounts on digg, stumble, etc is a better route? As an agency would you create an account for each client, or just have one for your own agency and tag your clients within? Im not sure even how much impact it will have on SERPs? thanks!
