XML Feed

If a site has an xml feed being used by 100 companies to create the content on their site. Will those 100 sites receive any link juice?
Is there any way content may be classed as duplicate across these sites? And should the page on the site where the xml feed is coming from have the page indexed first?

Hi Tina,
You think all xml feeds produce duplicate content to the sites they are going into?
The site the feed is coming from in this case is not neccessarily the most important one for this excercise. The hundred plus other sites that will use the feeds on their pages are all customers so working out the pro's and con's for them displaying a large amount of data via the xml feed in their pages.
I could use the canonical tag, this would have to be set up on original site that has feed.
The 100+ sites using the feed want to know if there pages can be indexed with the xml feed on to be found in the search engines, or is this duplicate without the canonical link?
For the purpose of this, the sites cannot create unique content.

I would say that that they wouldn't be receiving any and that the content would be seen as duplicate because it is the same as on other sites.
If the site that the feed is coming from is the site that is important to you, then you want that to be indexed first.
I think you can use the canonical tag on the sites with the duplicate content to show the original source.
Can the other sites not create unique content to make them more useful?

Search Console rejecting XML sitemap files as HTML files, despite them being XML
Hi Moz folks, We have launched an international site that uses subdirectories for regions and have had trouble getting pages outside of USA and Canada indexed. Google Search Console accounts have finally been verified, so we can submit the correct regional sitemap to the relevant search console account. However, when submitting non-USA and CA sitemap files (e.g. AU, NZ, UK), we are receiving a submission error that states, "Your Sitemap appears to be an HTML page," despite them being .xml files, e.g. http://www.t2tea.com/en/au/sitemap1_en_AU.xml. Queries on this suggest it's a W3 Cache plugin problem, but we aren't using Wordpress; the site is running on Demandware. Can anyone guide us on why Google Search Console is rejecting these sitemap files? Page indexation is a real issue. Many thanks in advance!

XML Sitemap and unwanted URL parameters
We currently don't have an XML sitemap for our site. I generated one using Screaming Frog and it looks ok, but it also contains my tracking url parameters (ref=), which I don't want Google to use, as specified in GWT. Cleaning it will require time and effort which I currently don't have. I also think that having one could help us on Bing. So my question is: Is it better to submit a "so-so" sitemap than having none at all, or the risks are just too high? Could you explain what could go wrong? Thanks !

RSS Feed - Dupe Content?
OK so yesterday a website agreed to publish my RSS feed and I just wanted to check something. The site in question is far more established than mine and I am worrying that with my content appearing on their website pretty much at the same time as mine, will Google index theirs first and therefore consider mine to be dupe? They are linking back to each of my articles with the text "original post" and I'm not sure whether this will help. Thanks in advance for any responses!

Campaign shows 5,000 warnings from shared database feed, made pages no-follow and no-index, are we OK now?
One of our campaigns shows 5,000 warnings for dup content, meta descriptions, and urls. This is from a xml database feed that is shared throughout the industry. We made the pages no-follow and no-index, but on Moz crawl still get the warnings. No warnings on Webmaster tools. Should we ignore these warnings and are we OK now, or is there more work to do?

Exclude Child URLs from XML Sitemap Generator (Wordpress)
Hi all, I was recommended the XML Sitemap Generator for Wordpress by the very helpful Keith Bloemendaal and John Pring - however I can't seem to exclude child URLs. There is a section Exclude items and a subsection Exclude posts. I have tried inputting the URLs for the pages I don't want in the sitemap, however that didn't work. So I read that you have to include a list of "IDs" - not sure where on earth to find that info, tried the page name and the post= number from the URL, however neither worked. I hope somebody can point me in the right direction - and apologies, I am a Wordpress novice, and I got no answers from the Wordpress forums so turned right back to SEOmoz! Cheers.

Duplicate XML sitemaps - 404 or leave alone?
We switched over from our standard XML sitemap to a sitemap index. Our old sitemap was called sitemap.xml and the new one is sitemapindex.xml. In Webmaster Tools it still shows the old sitemap.xml as valid. Also when you land on our sitemap.xml it will display the sitemap index, when really the index lives on sitemapindex.xml. The reason you can see the sitemap on both URLs is because this is set from the sitemap plugin. So the question is, should we change the plugin setting to let the old sitemap.xml 404, or should we allow the new sitemap index to be accessed on both URLs?
