Can I share share my content with other sites either as a individual post or RSS or will I be encourage duplicate content on the web and upset Google
-
Hi,
I have a new site http://www.homeforbusiness.co.uk. I want to encourage traffic to the site by sharing some of my content with other related websites which have a higher PR ranking and traffic for a link to my site. Is this going to upset Google re-duplicate content and devalue my site and stop any organic rankings in the future?
Equally some high PR sites which have a good synergy with mine such as http://thewomensbusinessclubs.com/ allow me to add my RSS feed with their blog network. Is this a good thing to do or not for the same reasons as above?
Or can I only do the above my creating fresh content?
Thanks,
Elizabeth Conley

Hi Dana,
Thanks, it probably sounds like an obvious questions but I assume I add a canonical tag to my original post on the my site before I share it.?
Thanks,
Eliz

Hi Elizabeth,
As long as you have proper canonical tags in use, sharing your content is not a problem. I would, however, encourage you to at least ask for a by-line or author credit that links back to the location of the original content. I don't think there's any problem at all with others allowing you to add your RSS feed to their blog netword. However, I could be wrong about that point and am interested in what other might have to say. In my mind the whole purpose of an RSS feed is for sharing, so I can't imagine it would be a problem.
Dana

What to do with outdated and irrelevant content on a website?
Hi everyone, On our corporate website we have a blog where we publish articles which are directly related to our company (house heating systems and gas cylinders) and some articles which are completely irrelevant to our core business, but which might be of interest to our potential clients. Recently I've been told that it is not a good idea to include these not directly related posts to our core business, because Google might be somewhat confused at to what our core business is all about. I was advised to research this topic and think of completely removing blog posts that are irrelevant to our core business from our blog. By removing I mean completely removing pages and setting a 410 status to tell Google that it is not a 404 error but that these pages were intentionally removed. I would like to hear some independent advice from Moz community as to what I should do? Thank you very much in advance.

Google+ Authorship Penalties for Past Posts?
Our blog has recently been updated to allocate past posts from 2011 and on to link to one of our recent writers who just came on board in 2013. Our writer set up a new Google+ profile for our blog last month, and has tagged all of the past posts with his Google+ authorship code. Is there a possibility that this could actually hurt our writer's authorship authority and our blog's authority, since the blog posts and the Google+ profile activation dates will not match up?

Wordpress post templates
Hi everyone! What I need is a way in Wordpress for the author to select a category for their post, and then have a template come up with some fields in addition to just the large field where you write your post, where the author can add some additional information. Then on the final post, have that information added to the top in some format that I (as the admin) can control. What I'm doing is setting up an internal company blog so our employees can have more visibility across teams. Some categories of posts will always include the same information, like release numbers, conference attendance, yes/no conclusions, among other information. If there's a plug-in for this, free or not, that would be great! If you can't tell I'm a Wordpress noob... so please bear with me. 🙂
