Not getting ranks for long tail keywords
-
Hi I started white hat linkbuilding for this site - http://www.capsulekratom.com/ since 2-3 months, but I havent got any ranks for my keywords. Whereas I started few other new sites along with this on same niche and they are growing both in terms of traffic and ranks. Not sure, why I am not getting ranks for this website. Any help wud be appreciated. Thanks Mark

It looks like you're a PRO user. I'd recommend going to the Keyword Difficulty Tool and typing in your primary keyword. Let's assume it's "kratom capsules."
The other websites ranking for that keyword are also exact or partial match domains (meaning they also have keywords in the domain name) - so you're roughly equal on that, although the exact match domain will have an advantage over you.
Once you load up the keyword difficulty report, compare yourself on each metric reported for the other websites. Your PA and DA are getting there, but still likely too low compared to the other results showing up.
Take a look at the link building being done by competitors. Try to copy any decent links, skip the spammy looking links, and think of way to get some links that they don't have. For your head terms (the shorter and more competitive terms you want to target), you'll need to build more links to have a shot. Long tail content for obscure keywords will be easier once you produce more ongoing content.
Also, it appears you're trying to target 3 terms with the homepage: "Kratom capsules | Buy Kratom capsules |Kratom for Sale - Capsulekratom.com" - Try aiming for one keyword per page. The three keywords in your title tag should really be 3 separate pages - only one of which can be the homepage.
If you're really taking a long-term approach to this site, I'd focus on creating content that your competitor's may not be investing in. Try soliciting "experience reports" from your buyers, similar to what is published on Erowid: http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=58314. That's the type of content that people will want to read through before they try something experimental like this, and if you're soliciting that type of content from your existing customers you'll be producing lots of unique content. You might even offer to ship a couple extra capsules if someone submits a report of more than 200 words.

What Are the Best Practices for Ranking for Synonyms?
This topic has me entirely confused, and unsure if we should keep a website focused on one keyword group, and using synonym contextual links to rank it for other keyword synonyms. We simply have not seen enough data or run enough tests to find our answer, and wanted to reach out to the community to see if anyone has. I have seen Google rank a synonym to my search query on the first page, and is why we are confused. Let's use an example: We'll use "Industry" as the main keyword for our page. "Company" or "Companies" is viewed as a synonym by Google of this keyword. When we query "Industry", "Company" and "Companies" are also found in bold. 1.) Is it best practice to also create a unique page targeting synonyms? Our thinking is that it would be best to try and target exactly what the user is looking for rather than having a synonym to their search for better conversions, but as mentioned above we feel it's best to hit exactly what they query because that's their way of thinking. That they're looking for that exact match. 2.) Have the page "Industry", but do some link building using contextual links "Company" or "Companies" pointing back at our "Industry" page. Would this help rank our "Industry" page for "Company" or "Companies" even though the main page is "Industry"? Just not sure we want to do this as the reasoning explained in #1. Thanks for your help!

So I ran into a site that was not ranking 4 days ago and has over 2 million links to it on some keywords. My guess is this is a link bomb, but the issue is this is pushing one of my sites down. Does anyone know a good way to over come a bomb like this?
So I ran http://www.riogrande.com/ into this site not that long ago and wanted to see if any other SEO's have an opinion on it. I've seen a Google bomb before, but the amount of links going into this URL is insane. The thing is how does one over come a Google Bomb? Do you just wait to see what Google does or do you just hope to rank under that URL? I should also note that it appears that all the keywords to it are relevant to the sites content. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks

Ever Get disillusioned with SEO
Many times now we have pushed certain keywords for homepage listings but we have found the traffic levels to be very poor and many cases first page listings turn out to be vanity. The frustrating thing is that sometimes we have to tell some of our SEO customers that in order to get a good market share for there industry they will always have to do google adwords. What are your thoughts on this . Thanks
