Google SEO - Where have I disappeared to?
-
Okay, so first off Google, I hate you.
Before I signed up for SEOMoz, my website was hitting page 9 and page 10 for some ultra difficult keywords. After spending a month using Hubspot and SEOMoz, I finally made it on to page 2 of google, for said 'impossible to rank high' keywords, which I was super happy with.
But last week, I login to find that I have disappeared off the top 100 pages of Google for about 100 of my top keywords!!!!
What the hell did I do wrong? I tried to please Google, but my website is still indexed, but just not ranked at all for any of my top keywords.
The last thing I did before I disappeared overnight was add "follow me" buttons to all my pages and "share this" buttons to all my blogs. Could this be the problem?
My website and main keyword is Process Server
Is there anyone who could help push me in the right direction? I have no idea what I did wrong.

There you go, completely re-uploaded again now. Any advice at all would be a great help.

Sorry, still uploading all my CSS files.
As for the Google issue, I thought the same thing when it happened last week, but a week on, and my website can't be found on even the loosest of keywords.
i.e.: last week, type in Private Investigator (which is a tremendously difficult keyword to rank for (23,000 views per month)), and I would have been in the top two or three pages, now you search, and I am nowhere to be found.
So then, last week, do a search for Private Investigator Essex, and I was number 1, as there is only about 600 views a month for this keyword. But now, I'm not in the top 50 pages!! And that's a ridiculously easy keyword to rank number 1 on. In fact, I've been rank number 1 on that for about 5 years!!!

I do feel for you.

The website is back online now.
-
Ah, no, that's because I decided to delete my entire website and reupload all the content. Probably a stupid time to do that considering I had just asked out a question, but I just had a sudden urge to do a 'clean install'!!
It's re-uploading as I type.
If you fancy a look, it'll be up again in about 10 minutes, hopefully....
I am completely stuck with ideas, and clean install was the best idea I could come up with incase there were any stray pieces of code laying around on my server annoying the google bots.

you might want to check your apache config. currently the above link is showing a directory list. I think you are missing index.html

Tracking in Google Analytics
My site has just recently (or maybe not so recently...) had a great deal of https URL's indexed (I was really only able to find this out thanks to the recent update to the GWT Index Status). It appears that Googlebot picked up an ssl somewhere (I already know where) on my site and then proceeded to crawl and index pages with https rather than http. Â Since I understand the issue, it should be an easy fix. My question is, does Google Analytics support (track) both http AND https for one site, or would I need to set up two different tracking codes for http and https? Â I figured that I might as well grab some data from the https pages that are indexed before I try and remove them. I've done a little research on using Groupings/Groups but I figured I would reach out to the MOZ community to see if anyone else has worked with a similar issue. Thanks!

Google Analytics set up for non-canonicalized domains
Our client's website is non-canonicalized (www.example.com & example.com load the same thing). Google seems to have made a preference for the www, but canonicalizing to www breaks their Flash website. All we're really trying to do at this time is install Google Analytics for them. What's the smartest way to make sure that both www.example.com and example.com are treated exactly the same by Google Analytics? Google Developers: Domains & Directories states that by default visit data will be separately collected between the two domains, although I found no references to the common www/naked domain issue. In stackoverflow: Does google analytics combine naked domains with the www subdomain? Török Gåbor says, "Yes, users will be tracked, but the same visitor coming from www.datalookups.com and datalookups.com will be counted as two different visitors." On the same page, Open SEO says, "This is completely false: www.domain.tld and domain.tld are treaded just the same, and get the same value for the HASH code (the number at the start of each __utm cookie). This an exception: every other subdomain.domain.tld will be handeld as a distinct web site". Can any Analytics experts help me sort this out? Thanks!

How do I best segment tablets on Google Analytics
I would like to find a way to best segment out my tablet traffic to measure performance; however I'm finding that there are road blocks. It doesn't seem that device operating systems or screen resolutions have clear cut differences in the tablet/mobile versions. Has anyone here found a good way to create a "tablet" segment in Google Analytics? Right now I'm having to lean on solely the ipad traffic to get indicators of tablet performance. Thanks!

Correlation between google and yahoo indexed pages
My blog ocpatentlawyer.com has about 130 pages or so. Â Google has indexed most if not all of the posts and pages. Â In contrast, yahoo has only indexed about 1/4 of the pages and posts. Are there any actions that can be taken based on this information? Â For example, if i prepare a blog post should I prepare it so that it will most likely be indexed into yahoo knowing that google will also index it. Â If so, how can i prepare blog posts that will most likely be indexed into yahoo's index?

Help with local SEO strategy for service industries
Here is the scenario I often wonder about: My client's tree removal service is ranking in #1 in local search for
Reporting & Analytics | | MozMan2
"tree removal town state." His Google Places account is set for a 30 mile radius. He has lots of directory listings and positive reviews. Some inbound links as well. The same client is ranking #1 in organic listing for "tree removal county state" ...I chose to target the county for organic listings because the client was dominating local search for the town. My reasoning: I thought, Google local search would bring all of the local specific searches for "tree removal town state" and organic listings would bring the broader searches for "tree removal county state." That is exactly what's happening and stats show there are some visitors coming to the site searching with the county name. Not a ton of traffic but a lot of keyword variations using the county name. The bulk of the traffic comes from the his Google Places listing for the town the business is located in which is great. Dilemma: My client is not ranking in local search results for neighboring towns just a few miles away and certainly not ranking in organic listings for neighboring towns either because we are targeting the county. He has a long list of town names he services in the footer area and this does seem to help for organic search in neighboring towns with little competition. Broad Question: How can I optimize pages for the same services in neighboring towns without duplicating content. For example, the home page title tag and H1 reads:
Tree Removal, Tree Trimming, Stump Removal, County State It would be very easy to create identical pages with title tags and page headings for the different towns but that would undoubtedly create duplicate content and would look weird to someone browsing the site. Specific Questions: Should I put the town name where the business is located in the title tag even though the site already ranks #1 for that town in local search, without having the town in the title tag? Why not use this importunity for an area that we are not ranking for? Do I nix the county and state and try to insert another town or two in the title and H1? Ideally I would like to have this site rank well in local search for all of the neighboring towns. This may be too broad of a post, (it is my first one) but perhaps there are a few of you out there that can outline strategies that work for service industries like, lawn care, tree removal, landscaping, etc. Thanks for reading.0
