How to remove negative media that is effecting the barnd
-
We have a client that is a reorganised business and brand. But a newspaper has posted some negative video and that is coming up on 2nd position when you type in the client name in google. The client also paid a company to try and reduce its positioning but no joy yet on that front.
The client is now thinking of rebranding his complete business he also have first page positions on his major keywords but the issue is that when a customer or potential customer reads that story etc it harms them and it will only get worse. The worst example being one of our salespeople sold 10 Items to a customer for £*k and before he got home the customer cancelled saying he had read the story on the internet!!
Also our competitors use it in the home to rubbish them all the time.
The market this year has been very tough for us and its half what it was last year
What would be your advice please ?

Should we go for a brand new site with no association with the current brand name?

Or how can we remove that one site negative video, we have contacted the editor who has refused to take off the news by the way that news was posted last year.

THis is what we call "reputation management" I would first make sure to build some social media accounts and get them to rank under you site..
ie. Your Site:www.yourbrand.com
LinkedIn:www.LinkedIn.com/yourbrand
Twitter:www.Twitter.com/yourbrand
Google+:www.Google+.com/yourbrand
Facebook:www.facebook.com/yourbrand
These social media accounts would need to be active and used everyday posting relevant stuff and adding relevant people.
There are many things you can do for reputation management, it can be challenging if the site you are up against has a strong site. Here are some useful references:

Should I remove spaces from my brand name?
I'm looking for some second opinions on this one. In talking with another SEO, he is of the opinion that if my company name is two words like Crazy Man, I should write some news release that have my brand combined as Crazyman because it is a variant of the brand name. He claims that Google does not look at my brand as Crazy Man, but as one word and in Google's mind Crazyman as one word is my brand. What do you all think?

What should we consider in Online reputation management - negative URL or Negative Keywords?
Hello All I have a serious confusion in terms of the Negative Keywords & Positive Keywords vs Negative URLS and Positive URLS for ORM (Online Reputation Management). Can any one please advise and explain why and what should I consider?
Branding | | barnesdorf
When we talk about ORM what exactly is more important? Negative Keywords or Negative URLS? Among these two which is more important ?? Negative URLs or Negative Keywords.? Do we need to classify keywords as negative or positive? in the report? Do we need to classify URLs as negative or positive? in the report? According to me and my fellow members either of them is actually most important but we all are stuck upon at one question "which one?" Any help would be appreciated....0 -
Effects of a long-term holding page/503 http code whilst site is being rebranded?
We have a client who is adamant that during the rebranding of their company and website, a holding page is put in place from August 5th till go-live date on August 21st. They don’t look like budging on the matter, therefore we are looking to set up a 503 HTTP code on the holding page to tell Google the site is down for maintenance and redirect all pages back to the holding page. The general consensus is that implementing this for such a long period of time will see Google de-index all pages and the site will lose masses of traffic as a result for a substantial time afterwards. It would be great to get some insight on best practice for this situation, how Google will determine the situation and the consequences of such actions. If you have any case studies of similar situations or have firm knowledge of how this scenario would affect the site, I would be delighted to hear from you!

Negative Youtube Review - Reputation Management
One of our clients had a negative youtube review which is really hurting their reputation. The problem was solved and not even at fault of our client. The uploader of the video was contacted, but has forgotten the username/password on the account. If you search for the brand name of the company, this video shows up 2nd on organic google results which is pretty embarrassing. What strategies would you all use to minimize the effects of this video? Would you buy an adword for the company name to push the video down?

New Social Media Site + META Tags for User Profiles
I'm currently in the process of building a social media site and was deciding whether or not to add META descriptions/keywords for individual user profiles. After reviewing Facebook, I noticed that in the META Description field, user profile pages just inherited the values for Facebook (there were no META keywords); and, when I reviewed LinkedIn, there was no META description/keywords at all. After this investigation, I figured it might be a question best addressed to the SEO community. With that, what do you guys think? If you were building a social media site, would you have META description + META keywords for each user's profile? If so, what would be the best way to optimize the individual profiles so they rank highly within the search engines?

I'm managing a hospital that is acquiring several locations. Are there advantages to having a Facebook and Twitter account for each location? Or is it SEO smart to use one account for discussing all properties? Thank you,
