Dynamic numbers in meta title - can it harm SEO?
-
We are creating an online shop with thousands of products. And i want to put total product number in index title, each day/week it will increase.
This would be interesting for visitors to see. But would be it be good for SEO?
For example title: "Brand - Buy Toys Online, We Have More Than 10659".
-
Or you could do
<title>Red Tonka Firetruck | 10659 Toys In Stock</title>
The important thing is the uniqueness of each, the 1st part needs to be the primary focus of the page, and you want to communicate "this page really is about the topic you searched for"...
-
To answer your question, this is a good way to ensure unique title tags across a very large site so yes you can definitely do it.
To clarify what Alan was saying, you don't want a bunch of title tags like this
<title>"Brand - Buy Toys Online, We Have More Than 10659"</title>
<title>"Brand - Buy Toys Online, We Have More Than 20365"</title>
<title>"Brand - Buy Toys Online, We Have More Than 18818"</title>
you want something more like this for example (although you might add category or something after the name of the toy
<title>"Red Tonka Firetruck | 10659"</title>
<title>Darth Vader 16" Plush Toy | 17759"</title>
<title>Justin Beiber Dress Up Figurine | 32666"</title>
-
At the bottom of index it will show "total products XX" and person can press on last page to check. So it should be related..
-
it won't hurt SEO, generally speaking. Beware though that page titles need to be unique to every page, and should really represent what that page is about. So if a broad statement like you just described doesn't really represent the page's topical focus, Google will just as likely ignore your title and replace it with one their system comes up with anyhow.

In our reports we get alt tag errors for our banner images. We are unable to add alt tags to the banner images as they live inside CSS. We can add a title tag on the div title for the banner. Does that help with SEO and accessibility?

Mobile Meta Descriptions?
Hi Guys, We have two different versions of each page for both desktop and mobile example: http://tinyurl.com/zkxlxax http://tinyurl.com/zelqcbv We want to create meta descriptions for both versions. However in the CMS (http://www.mantistech.com.au/ecommerce_website_package.aspx) it only allows one meta description. Example: http://s21.postimg.org/ar8bzrh3r/screenshot_1804.jpg Does anyone know anyway around this? To add two different meta descriptions and tell Google which one to use based on device type. Thanks.

Meta refresh bad for SEO
Hi there, Some external developers have created a wishlist for a website that allows visitors to add products to a wishlist and then send an enquiry. Very similar set-up to a shopping basket really (without the payment option). However, this wishlist lives in a separate iframe and refreshes every 30 seconds to reflect any items visitors add to their wishlist. This refreshing is done with a meta refresh. I'm aware of the obvious usability issue that the visitor's product only appears after 30 seconds in their wishlist. However, are there also any SEO issues due to the refreshing of the iframe every 30 seconds? Please let me know, whether small or large issues.

International SEO and Server Hosting
I am quite new to international SEO. I have a customer who wants to use the same website content on various domains targeting different countries. Such as; xxxx.hk - same content targeting Hong Kong xxxx.co.uk - same content targeting UK xxxx.de - same content targeting Germany I found that it could be possible with the Google suggested hreflang without any duplicate content problem. Is that true? Could someone explain this for me. Another question; if above is true do we need to make other adjustments as well. Such as; Any adjustments in Google Webmaster Tools (for each domain) Server location, does that really make a difference? Can we host each of the domains on the same server or should we seperate them and host each one on the country it is targeting ? Thanks in advance!

I can't help but think something is wrong with my SEO
So we re-launched our site about a month ago, and ever since we've seen a dramatic drop in search results (probably due to some errors that were made) when changing servers and permalink structure. But, I can't help but think something else is at play here. When we write something, I can check 24 hours later, and if I copy the Title verbatim, but we don't always show up in SERPs. In fact, I looked at a post today, and the meta description showing is not the same, but when I check the source code, it's right. What shows up in Google: http://d.pr/i/jGJg What's actually in the source code: http://d.pr/i/p4s8 Why is this happening? Website is The Tech Block
