Duplicate page reported in Wordpress site, but I can't find it in All Pages list
-
In a crawl report a duplicate page content warning has been displayed. The two urls are
1. http://www.superheroes.com.au/shop
and
2. http://www.superheroes.com.au/shop/category/catalog/It's a WordPress site and I cannot find the second page anywhere in the list of All Pages in the Admin (I want to add canonicalisation code) When I view the 2nd page and click Edit Page, it redirects to the 1st page.
Any ideas where SEOMoz would be finding this 2nd page or how it might be being generated?
(btw I didn't build this site)
Thanks
Simon

Have you gotten the opportunity to run the site through
http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/crawl-test
it tells you it takes 2 days but I find normally takes about 20 min. the information it gives I think is far greater than what Google Webmaster tools can ever do. Are you replying to me when you say you think it's correct about the pages having one being a category and the other being a page? Were you referring to the challenge that posted 1st? I do a lot of WordPress and would be more than happy to look at it again if you would like me to?
this answered your question then? if it did please follow the guidelines and give credit where you feel are appropriate.
Respectfully,
Thomas Zickell

Hi,
Yes I think that's correct. As it turns out Google Webmaster didn't pick up on this as a problem, though it did list all the pages that form part of the checkout process which I've blocked using robots.txt)
Think I'm all good now, thanks for the replies!

I just wanted to be clear the reason you cannot find it in your page list is it's in your categories list
-
I would have to strongly agree with Chris's guests or that WordPress is simply treating your category as a page as it does commonly. The 2 I received are the ones below. You can clearly see 2 separate and URLs with category catalog being the difference any category can be a page
http://www.superheroes.com.au/shop/category/catalog/
http://www.superheroes.com.au/shop/
I hope I have been of some help to you,
Thomas

It looks like the page that links to the page:
http://www.superheroes.com.au/shop/category/catalog/
is the "prev" and "1" link in the pagination menu on this page:

Duplicate Content in WordPress Taxonomies & Noindex, Follow
Hello Moz Community, We are seeing duplicate content issues in our Moz report for our WordPress site’s Tag pages. After a bit of research, it appears one of the best solutions is to set Tag pages to “no index, follow” within Yoast. That makes sense, but we have a few questions: In doing this, how are we affecting our opportunity to show up in search results? Are there any other repercussions to making this change? What would it take to make the content on these pages be seen as unique?

What's my best strategy for Duplicate Content if only www pages are indexed?
The MOZ crawl report for my site shows duplicate content with both www and non-www pages on the site. (Only the www are indexed by Google, however.) Do I still need to use a 301 redirect - even if the non-www are not indexed? Is rel=canonical less preferable, as usual? Facts: the site is built using asp.net the homepage has multiple versions which use 'meta refresh' tags to point to 'default.asp'. most links already point to www Current Strategy: set the preferred domain to 'www' in Google's Webmaster Tools. set the Wordpress blog (which sits in a /blog subdirectory) with rel="canonical" to point to the www version. Ask programmer to add 301 redirects from the non-www pages to the www pages. Ask programmer to use 301 redirects as opposed to meta refresh tags & point all homepage versions to www.site.org. Does this strategy make the most sense? (Especially considering the non-indexed but existent non-www pages.) Thanks!!

Canonical URLs and Duplicate Page Content
My website (doctor directory) is getting a lot of duplicate page content & duplicate page title warnings from SEOmoz. The pages that are getting the warnings are doctors profiles which can be accessed at three different URLs. Problem is this should be handled by the canonical tag on the pages. So example below, all three open the same page: https://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh/ https://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh/gkv https://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh/pkv Here's our canonical tag (on line 34): rel="canonical" href="http://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh" /> So why is SEO moz crawling the page? We are getting hundreds of errors from this - and yet Google doesn't have any of the duplicate URLs indexed...

What is the best method to solve duplicate page content?
The issue I am having is an overwhelmingly large number of pages on cafecartel.com show that they have duplicate page content. But when I check the errors on SEOmoz it shows that the duplicate content is from www.cafecartel.com not cafecartel.com. So first of all, does this mean that there are two sites? and is this a problem I can fix easily? (i.e. redirecting the URL and deleting the extra pages) Is this going to make all other SEO useless due to the fact that it shows that nearly every page has duplicate page content? Or am I just completely reading the data wrong?

How can authority of the page be higher then authority of the domain?
In the opensite explorer most of the links that I see have a higher domain authority and lower page authority which makes sense to me because I thought that domain authority is an aggregate of its pages authority. But apperently I was wrong because sometimes I see that the page authority is greater then its domain? How could that be?

How can I update On Page Optimization Reports following 301 redirect?
A few weeks ago I ran the SEOMoz On Page Optimization Reports for one of my sites. At the time, the site homepage was duplicated .com/ and .com/index.html (I know!). The On Page Optimisation Reports I ran at the time obviously included both as individual pages. I've now corrected the duplicate issue with a 301 but the On Page Optimization Reports are still looking at the rankings for .com/index.html and therefore showing "not in top 50" for keywords where I'm actually ranking 1st - any idea how I can get the reports to update so they don't continue to look for .com/index.html? Thanks!
