Desktop & Mobile XML Sitemap Submitted But Only Desktop Sitemap Indexed On Google Search Console
Hi! The Problem We have submitted to GSC a sitemap index. Within that index there are 4 XML Sitemaps. Including one for the desktop site and one for the mobile site. The desktop sitemap has 3300 URLs, of which Google has indexed (according to GSC) 3,000 (approx). The mobile sitemap has 1,000 URLs of which Google has indexed 74 of them. The pages are crawlable, the site structure is logical. And performing a Landing Page URL search (showing only Google/Organic source/medium) on Google Analytics I can see that hundreds of those mobile URLs are being landed on. A search on mobile for a longtail keyword from a (randomly selected) page shows a result in the SERPs for the mobile page that judging by GSC has not been indexed. Could this be because we have recently added rel=alternate tags on our desktop pages (and of course corresponding canonical ones on mobile). Would Google then 'not index' rel=alternate page versions? CMS Auto Generated Sitemap Work Around?
Hey Moz Community, The Shopify ecommerce platform auto generates xml sitemaps and robots.txt for you. Frustratingly there is no way to augment either of these. If I noindex on a page it will still show up in the site map... Causing inconstancy with the sitemap submitted to GWT. In theory if put the MY version of the sitemap on site and point GWT to MY version.. Would this solve the inconstancy ? Or would Googlebot go in and still crawl the default /sitemap.xml anyway? Any suggestions and insight is greatly appreciated!

Does anyone have any thoughts about this site: web-archive-uk.com?
They have "archived" a lot of our content. We have high-quality content that has been copied by others. We are in the process of sending DMCA notices to the relevant search engines that have indexed these sites. As well as to the actual sites. Are we right to believe that copied content on 3rd party websites damages/diminishes the seo of our own site? (Leaving aside the straight forward theft issue.) BTW actually impressed by the swift responses from Google to DMCA requests.

NoIndex user generated pages?
Hi, I have a site, downorisitjustme (dot) com It has over 30,000 pages in google which have been generated by people searching to check if a specific site is working or not and then possibly adding a link to a msg board to the deeplink of the results page or something which is why the pages have been picked up. Am I best to noindex the res.php page where all the auto generated content is showing up and just have the main static pages as the only ones available to be indexed?

Duplicate content problem from an index.php file
Hi One of my sites is flagging a duplicate content problem which is affecting the search rankings. The duplicate problem is caused by http://www.mydomain.com/index.php which has a page rank of 26 How can I sort the duplicate content problem, as the main page should just be http://www.mydomain.com which has a page rank of 42 and is the stronger page with stronger links etc Many Thanks

Do index.php extensions count as duplicate content on Joomla sites?
When i run my error report, i see 2 duplicate pages, but both are the main domain and then the /index.php extension. how do i fix this? does it really count as duplicate content?

Any idea why our sitemap images aren't indexed?
Here's our sitemap: http://www.driftworks.com/shop/sitemap/dw_sitemap.xml In google webmaster tools, I can see the sitemap report and it says: Items:Web Submitted:2,798 Indexed:2,910 Items:Images Submitted:3,178 Indexed:0 Do you have any idea why our images are not being indexed according to webmaster tools? I checked a few of the image URLs and they worked nicely. Thanks in advance, J
