RSS Feed Scrapping
-
Hi,
I've read that some sites will "borrow" the content of your blog. In order to ensure that Google recognizes the original author, what code should we put into the blog posting?
Our blog is for Drupal 7 (?) if that helps.
Cheers!

To make use of people who "borrow" your content, add a link back to your site inside of the content. When they publish the content on their site, you got yourself a backlink.
If you use Wordpress, Yoast SEO-plugin has a feature for this, very easy to use.
Good luck!

Hi Francisco & Vikas,
Thanks so much for the replies.
I'm just starting to learn how to do rel=canonical. In the Beginners Guide there is some sample Canonical code.
Would it be possible to use some code similar to the one below at the bottom of the blog post? Sample:
Thanks!

Yeah as Francisco said, Rel=canonical might be one option. Adding this tag, If multiple url have similar content Google will consider url with rel=canonical. And Google's algo is quite advanced now and when it will crawl your content first, it can assume you are the creator of content and as they crawl other scrapped content, they will know that this content might be scrapped.
So I would also say not to worry too much about it.

rel=canonical. That's my answer. Also you may want to watch WBF http://www.seomoz.org/blog/cross-domain-canonical-the-new-301-whiteboard-friday. I don't know if that will help though.
I really don't worry about my content being scraped. I get backlinks from it anyway. Also, I make sure "I" rel canonical it just in case some scraper comes by.

RSS Feeds query
I think I pretty much know the answer to this one but a client of mine (in the motoring sector) wants to put an RSS feed of their car ads on an external classifieds web site. Any SEO concerns there? Thanks all... Gavin

Can I share share my content with other sites either as a individual post or RSS or will I be encourage duplicate content on the web and upset Google
Hi, I have a new site http://www.homeforbusiness.co.uk. I want to encourage traffic to the site by sharing some of my content with other related websites which have a higher PR ranking and traffic for a link to my site. Is this going to upset Google re-duplicate content and devalue my site and stop any organic rankings in the future? Equally some high PR sites which have a good synergy with mine such as http://thewomensbusinessclubs.com/ allow me to add my RSS feed with their blog network. Is this a good thing to do or not for the same reasons as above? Or can I only do the above my creating fresh content? Thanks, Elizabeth Conley

Adding External Blog Feed
I have a client who's a member of the Loopnet.com community. They have a place on their profile to add an external blog feed. Our question is does adding the RSS feed from an external blog have any SEO value or do we run into issues with duplicate content with the same blog posts published on two different websites?

SEO issues around post syndication via RSS
There are a number of clients that I have that want to syndicate either posts or video content to other websites via RSS feeds. Each of these are built on a WordPress platform, fyi. Two that this applies to are: http://explosiveoptions.net and http://mrtopstep.com Many of the sites that would pick this content up would be higher Domain and Page Ranks than the original sites. Those that have video content put it up on multiple sites, including YouTube. What can I do in the configuration of the RSS feeds to ensure the credit is maintained to the original website, and are there any other considerations I should be concerned about? Perhaps things that I would ask the other site to do in their incorporation of it to their site? Thanks for your help.

Yahoo News Feed
As part of my site I'd like to repost relevant Yahoo News stories related to my keyword. I have a plugin that will automatically retrieve them each day and put them into draft status so I can make sure they're relevant before publishing them. I plan to make this a separate section and give the appropriate credit to Yahoo News. I'm not necessarily doing this to GAIN SEO rankings but if that came of it, that would be a bonus. Question - would I be HURTING myself by doing this?

RSS News
(By Google Traductor) Hi, within our community we have developed a news service (www.agroads.com.ar/noticias/) where we had about 30 sourcesrss. News grouped into categories and generate an internal link to see the details (and also a link to see the full story in the appropriate media). It is our first experience with a news site and wanted to know:
Content Development | | romaro
1. We keep track of all news from all media? (would be creating agreat sitemap in the future:)
2. We must clarify in the sitemap that are sources of news?
3. Google may consider it duplicate content?
4. We're taking data from different source types (html, video andpodcast), we must differentiate this content to index? Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Greetings!

Free RSS hosting service?
I have a list of URLs of articles I have written and posted in many different article databases. But many of the URLs are not indexed by Google. How can I get them indexed? I was thinking of putting them into an RSS feed and then pinging that feed. Good idea or bad? If a good idea, can anyone recommend a free RSS hosting site? Thanks.
