Is a Tumblr company blog good for SEO?
-
Hi,
We are in the process of gaining coverage and visibility over our SaaS service. And one of the work we're doing is, very much standardly, having our pro blog with content.
I see that most of companies/people are using a WordPress or a Blogger blog to achieve this. Another school is choosing Tumblr, which is a rising star.
But then I can't help to feel that there is something wrong with Tumblr. It doesn't appear in Google search at all... It is never in the top of the searches. And sometimes even search for an exact match of a known post extract won't show the Tumblr link into google Search.
What it means to me is that Tumblr has a very poor SEO-friendly policy.
I was also reading in different posts that it was indeed the case. Tumblr is bad for SEO.
I can't help but feeling confused and not really understanding how such a big social blogging engine couldn't get into google search... Or are they going twitter-like?
I guess my question will be:
"Is it good to have chosen Tumblr, or should I switch to either WordPress.com or Blogger using a custom DNS?"
Thanks for reading.

Tumblr is a bit controversial in the world of business blogging. Some people swear by it, and others say it is a waste of time – it doesn’t have the SEO capabilities or the customizability of the other two platforms, that’s for sure. If your target market is over the age of 35 , or if your business sells something that isn’t very visual, then Tumblr probably won’t fit your needs. But if you are in an industry or run a business that can use Tumblr to share images and quick updates, then you really should consider it despite its drawbacks.
My business doesn’t use Tumblr because we are a document filing service – how many cool, viral images can you imagine coming out of that? But Tumblr is great if your product is visual and you are willing to spend the time to talk to and engage with your customers. Remember that Tumblr users are very reciprocal - that means it is up to you to go through posts, comment, and like if you ever expect to attract people over to your business’s page. It’s also very easy to use, and a bit addictive, so once you get going you’ll likely find yourself spending a lot of time on the site. Just remember to get a custom domain for your business’s Tumblr and link to your blog on your homepage.
I hope this information will help you,
Good luck

Rel=Publisher On Business Blog
Hello! We were just wondering if we can add the Rel=Publisher on our business blog? We would like to have any of our blog posts that rank to have the small thumbnail/logo of our business similar to the way the rel=author tag works in the serps. All posts are published by our business and we would not like any of our personal pictures showing up. Any help greatly appreciated! Thank You!

Getting Connections to Follow LinkedIn Company Page
I've just started a freelance contract with a client promoting their content over social media, primarily Twitter and LinkedIn. As I've started to manager their accounts, I noticed they have set up both a personal LinkedIn page under the company name as well as a Company Page. The "personal" account has 330 connections but the Company Page only has 17 followers. Has anyone had success with a good strategy for quickly and effectively promoting the Company Page to the personal connections? I'd like to actually migrate the connections over to the Company Page, which should be the primary focus. Thanks for any help.

Is social media going to be the king of SEO?
Hi, Bit of a discussion really, every article out at the moment talking about SEO mentions how Social Media will take over in 2013. Is this really the case, should every SEO be focusing a large amount of time of Social Media? Far as im concerned I do a few things, try and build the social lists on different networks such as Facebook & Twitter also trying to get the list to engage with my posts and secondly social sharing from onsite content. Thats it at the moment.

Merge Facebook profiles for SEO?
We are considering merging facebook profiles for our three stores. If we do this, users will not be able to "check in" at a location, but wouldn't it be better to have 4,000 fans on one profile than to have 2,500, 1,000, and 500 fans on the three profiles? The main site for these stores is also an ecommerce site.
