Site offline - Mitigating measures?
-
Hi,
Our domain has expired, and it could take up to 48h to recover our website. Appart from the obvious image damage, It worries me Google will just think we have vanisheg
Any recommendations? Maybe update something on WebMasterTools? Not having the domain, cannot even do any temporary redirect, etc...
Thanks!
Jaime

Oh that's a bummer! Unfortunately since you don't own the domain right now there's not a ton to be done. Fortunately, 48 hours isn't SO bad. Google will re-crawl you when you re-launch (keep a close eye to make sure they do so correctly and all your pages get indexed), and you'll probably see a bit of a dip in traffic/rankings for a bit, but you should recover within a month or two.
I'd spend this time thinking up some ways to quickly earn some new links - maybe a new piece of content, or building some new relationships? That will mitigate the effects from this. Good luck!

Hello,
If you already have started domain renew process, then don't worry about Google. Don't do anything in Google webmaster tools, just wait for your domain to be activated. Google will re-crawl your site and update it accordingly.

Why is Google not indexing my site?
I'm a bit confused as to why my site just isn't indexing on Google. Even if I type in my brand name, my social channels rank and there's no evidence of my website. I've followed all of the advice I've read and gone into webmaster tools and got the Wordpress yoast plug-in but nothing seems to be making a difference! One thing I've noticed, in Google Webmaster Tools it says "Couldn’t communicate with the DNS server." in site errors. I've called GoDaddy and they said that everything is fine. A bit frustrating. Trying to work out what my next steps should be but feeling a bit lost to be honest! Any help GREATLY appreciated!

Mobile site domain authority
Hello, I think this may be a coding issue, but hoping someone can help me. I am still having issues with our mobile site ranking, even though we created redirects/canonical to identify similar content between desktop version and mobile. I did notice through MOZ analysis of backlinks that we have no domain authority. If the mobile site is automatically detected dependent on the user, shouldn't we also have the same domain authority? How does that work exactly? How can we build up the domain authority for our mobile site? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

How do I diagnose a site that has had a corrupted database restored?
Here's the situation: Downloaded a backup of a full database from CPanel, because we needed to perform some queries on it. Found out that after restoring it, CPanel had not been able to zip up the full database because the server memory was set so low (some posts weren't showing up after the restore). SO, how would I go about determining exactly what content is missing from the site? What search engine queries would you perform? Is there a plugin I could use to establish the inconsistencies between the database content and the search results? Your help is appreciated in advance!

Redesigning the site with same Domain (IMP.)
technical SEO question - If we take down a site and use the same domain but just redesign the whole site. I guess sometimes in this case Google still keeps indexing old pages though they do not exist now! What the solution for this? Google suggests redirect them to a 404 page but in this case as its same domain- Is it possible that we throw 404 errors and redirect them to 404 page and this 404 page exists in the new site itself (but of course we don't have link our menu to this 404 page) (if that makes sense)? Would appreciate if you can suggest or add anything to above topic.
