You're given 10,000 recipes and told to build a site--what would you do?
-
Say you were given a list of 10,000 recipes and asked to build an SEO friendly site. Would you build a recipe search engine and index the search results (of course making sure that IA and user engagement metrics are great)?
Or, would you try to build static pages?
-
I have also one https://besttoasterovenguides.com/ about kitchen niche. Can someone check it's not showing any links correctly.
-
I would use tools liek copyscape or anyother to see if the recipes (exact text) are already not available online so you won't get into any sort of duplication issues.
Considering 10,000 it will take some time for sure.
If its not copied material then surely go for a website.
Building static pages will take much more time compared to using a cms i guess.

There are some great responses on the SEO aspect of your project already from Keri and Matt. As far as building the site, I would build it off of WordPress and use a custom post type for "Recipes", and custom taxonomies for "ingredients" and "type" etc... Then you can use the default WP search function and taxonomy lists for users to easily search for the right recipe.
-
I'd ask if the recipes were already on the web and see if I'm going to be fighting a huge duplicate content problem against an established site.
-
I don't know that they're mutually exclusive. I think you need to create a page for each of the recipes. Then I think you need a great search engine for it (search by ingredient, by course, by main protein, by what's in pantry, etc.) You'll want to definitely get your ideas from successful sites like AllRecipes.com, Taste.com.au, FoodNetwork.com and such.
Also - from an SEO/on-site perspective, you need to figure out how to get integrated hRecipe (schema/rich snippet) data into Google. Search "banana bread" click "more" then "Recipes" - at the top you'll see Search Tools > Ingredients. You need your ingredients for every one of those 10k recipes to show up in this part of Google. This is how food bloggers search and they're going to be a HUGE part of your audience.
Make sure each can be rated, and if I were doing this from scratch right now, I'd make sure everyone who submits UGC in the future has a place to put their rel=author on each recipe. If you can integrate ingredients, rel=author and ratings, you'll be on the way to great food SEO.

I would look at similar sites. Not sure where you are located, but here in Australia we have a great site called Taste (Taste.com.au).
There's got to be tonnes of great recipe sites like that - I'd just copy elements of what they are doing. Or at least use it as a starting point to do some significant research.

Consolidate Local sites to one larger site
I am a partner in a real estate company that operates in 10 different markets across the country. Each of these markets has it's own individual domain. My question is should we consolidate each of these markets into one domain that services all markets? What would we possibly gain or lose from an organic traffic standpoint? In some of our more established markets (Indianapolis, Las Vegas, Tampa, Orlando and Charlotte) our organic traffic accounts for 50-60% of our total traffic. In some of our newer markets (Denver, Phoenix, San Diego) it accounts for less than 15%. We do operate under two different brand names. EasyStreet Realty and Highgarden Real Estate. EasyStreet has been around since 2000 with most of our Highgarden sites only up for 6-24 months. Another question is we are considering converting all EasyStreet divisions to Highgarden. I am a little reluctant to do so, since most of our organic traffic is coming from our EasyStreet sites. Thoughts? You can find links to all our sites at www.easystreetrealty.com or www.highgarden.com Thank you in advance for your insight.

How is my 301 redirected site stealing rankings from the main site?
Hello, I have a site, drhobelt.com, that 301 redirects to the main site, drhonow.com. Not only is drhobelt.com still indexed, but it recently stole rankings from drhonow.com for "decompression belt" related terms. What could be causing this? How do I reclaim the rankings for drhonow.com? Thanks for reading!!

Is it safe to not have a sitemap if Google is already crawling my site every 5-10 min?
I work on a large news site that is constantly being crawled by Google. Googlebot is hitting the homepage every 5-10 minutes. We are in the process of moving to a new CMS which has left our sitemap nonfunctional. Since we are getting crawled so often, I've met resistance from an overwhelmed development team that does not see creating sitemaps as a priority. My question is, are they right? What are some reasons that I can give to support my claim that creating an xml sitemap will improve crawl efficiency and indexing if we are already having new stories appear in Google SERPs within 10-15 minutes of publication? Is there a way to quantify what the difference would be if we added a sitemap?

No longer showing for 'money' phrases but long tail combinations rank high?
I hope someone can shed some light on this as I've been pulling my hair out so much there's hardly any left! Background: 12 year old website that for about 10 years had Top 3 rankings for 100's of phrases but rankings first dropped off August 2011. Panda seemed to be the cause but finding the exact issue is hard. We are an online travel agent and every hotel page has duplicate content copied from other websites. This has not been changed although lots of sections in the site still rank well, so do the hotel pages themselves. Lots of internal duplicate issues have been resolved but with no effect. Our old style link, link, link all day long with our 2-word main key phrase as anchor text has given us an unnatural backlink profile but no message has been left by G about this in WMT (yet). Internal link structure is poor with all pages linking back to the homepage with our 'money' 2-word phrase in 3 places. Penguin wiped two thirds of all our backlinks back in May 2012. Why then, do we still rank for our 'money' phrase on the homepage when it has some extra words included and becomes long tail? e.g. CityName Apartments (money phrase) - Now ranks page 2-3 CityName Apartments to rent for the night - Ranks #2 on Google in all countries To make things more confusing other pages rank really well for similar money phrase e.g. CityName Apartments Offers - Ranks 2nd on 185,000,000 results (not homepage) It seems only the homepage is effected (where 95% of inbound links point) but if the site wide duplicates or unnatural link profile was flagged it would effect more than one page of the site. Wouldn't it?

About to launch a new e-commerce site need help with anchor text's
Hey guys, I need some advice regarding the keywords I want to target for a new website. The website is e-commerce and is about 60% done but i wanted some advice. home page - http://www.diamondengagement.com/ For link building purposes I only want to target the domain name for the anchor text "diamond engagement" and "diamondengagement.com" for internal pages like .... http://www.diamondengagement.com/engagement-rings/ I want this page to rank for "engagement rings" but that's a very competitive keyword. I was thinking for the first 3 or 4 months I only build links to this page with the domain name again "diamond engagement" and phrase anchor text's using "diamond engagement" than just out right building "engagement rings" or "engagement ring" to start off. What are your thoughts??

Content Marketing: Should we build a separate website or built in site within the Website itself?
Hi Mozzers, Client: Big carpet cleaner player in the carpet cleaning industry Main Goal: Creating good content to Get more organic traffic to our main site Structure of the extra content: It will act like a blog but will be differentiated from the regular site by not selling anything but just creating good content. The look and design will be different from the client's site. SEO question: In terms of SEO, what would be the most beneficial for us to do, should we built in this new section/site outside or inside the client's site? I personally think that it should be separated from the main site because of the main reasons: A followed link to the main site Anchor texts implementation linking back to our service pages If we would to choose to build in this content, it would be highly beneficial for getting organic traffic within the main site but I am afraid this will not provide us any link juice since anchor texts won't be accounted the same since all of those would be located in the Nav bar of the main site. Can someone tell me what would be the best in terms of SEO? P.S: My boss doesn't agree with me and would rather go the second option (build in within the main site) that's why i am asking you guys what would be the most beneficial? Thank you Guys

On-Site Optimization Tips for Job site?
I am working on a job site that only ranks well for the homepage with very low ranking internal pages. My job pages do not rank what so ever and are database driven and often times turn to 404 pages after the job has been filled. The job pages have to no content either. Anybody have any technical on-site recommendations for a job site I am working on especially regarding my internal pages? (Cross Country Allied.com)
