Rel = Canonical in Blog Posting
-
Hello,
I keep coming back to rel=canonical issues!
I noticed when I "view pagesource" that my drupal blog posting automatically creates
link rel="canonical" href="/sample-blog-title" /< pattern (with the > reversed) in the source code.
I'm getting a lot of Rel=Canonical warnings and double content warnings from Seomoz so I've been trying to insert
link rel="canonical" href="http://www.example.com/blog/my-awesome-blog-post"<
but the page won't retain the code for some reason. I'm entering the code in Plain Text, but saving the document as Full HTML.
Is there a better piece of code I can put in to demonstrate that the original blog page is the original source?
Thanks!

Hi Ayaz,
Wow, thanks for the heads up. I've been trying to put the rel=canonical code into the wysisyg editor this whole time.
So where should the code be placed? It's drupal, so should I make a block on the page where the rel=canonical text is supposed to be placed? what's the best way to put the code into the head of the source code?
Thanks?

take a look at this, it will help you activate automatic canonical hopefully : http://drupal.org/project/canonical_url

Hello again, you are missing the point this code is needed to be added in the head area of your source code, what is your html like
It is not a part of content/text etc.
-
Hi Ayaz,
I'm adding it near the bottom of the text. Does it need to be the first line of text in the blog post?
Thanks!
-
Hello,
are you adding it in the head area of your html right ?

Rel Sponsored on Internal Links
Hi all. Should you use rel sponsored on internal links? Here is the scenario: a company accepts money from one of their partners to place a prominent link on their home page. That link goes to an internal page on the company's website that contains information about that partner's service. If this was an external link that the partner was paying for, then you would obviously use rel="sponsored" but since this is a link that goes from awebsite.com to awebsite.com/some-page/, it seems odd to qualify that link in this way. Does this change if the link contains a "sponsored" label in the text (not in the rel qualifier)? Does this change if this link looks more like an ad (i.e. a banner image) vs. regular text (i.e. a link in a paragraph)? Thanks for any and all guidance or examples you can share!

Change category of a post
Hi, Finally I decide to renovate my site structure, but I have a question, if I have an old post and I change its category there is some SEO problem? The post permalink is "www.sitename.com/namepost". Last question, it's better to have one category for post or more than one category for post? Thank You

Should summary pages have the rel canonical set to the full article?
My site has tons of summary pages, Whether for a PDF download, a landing page or for an article. There is a summary page, that explains the asset and contains a link to the actual asset. My question is that if the summary page is just summary of an article with a "click here to read full article" button, Should I set the rel canonical on the summary page to go to the full article? Thanks,

Canonical URL Issue
Hi Everyone, I'm fairly new here and I've been browsing around for a good answer for an issue that is driving me nuts here. I tried to put the canonical url for my website and on the first 5 or 6 pages I added the following script SEOMoz reported that there was a problem with it. I spoke to another friend and he said that it looks like it's right and there is nothing wrong but still I get the same error. For the URL http://www.cacaniqueis.com.br/video-caca-niqueis.html I used the following: <link rel="<a class="attribute-value">canonical</a>" href="http://www.cacaniqueis.com.br/video-caca-niqueis.html" /> Is there anything wrong with it? Many thanks in advance for the attention to my question.. 🙂 Alex

Blogger Blog URL Structure Questions
I'm starting to use my blog more and wanted to ask about an issue I've read about on SEOmoz in the past. I use blogger instead of wordpress. It's quick and simple - I have no interest in switching to wordpress for this particular blog. My blog is currently setup as blog.site.com. Is it still important (for seo reasons) to switch from blog.site.com to site.com/blog? If so, is there a way to do this in blogger? And if I do this, will my past posts lose their authority if their redirected to the new url structure? Rand mentions in this article: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/11-best-practices-for-urls "never use multiple subdomains" - This is an old article, but I've seen this mentioned several times. Does this still hold true? Am I losing out on links to my blog? Thanks in advance.

Rel = author display issue
I want to enter some products as blog posts. I don't want users to see the post info, but do want SE's to see rel="author". I can do this by setting display to "none" in a CSS style. The post info does not appear in the browser but is still in the page source. Will search engines be able to see the post info?

Canonical Tag
Does it do anything to place the Canonical tag on the unique page itself? I thought this was only to be used on the offending pages that are the copies. Thanks
