What is the biggest mistake you made with one of your SEO campaigns? When did it happen? What were the consequences and what did you learn from it?

I'd have to second this one. Hiring an oversea's copywriter because the client insisted on getting the cheapest one available.
It was disaster. I spent more time fixing and correcting the copy for grammar and SEO than they spent writing the content.
After about a month the client agreed, and we hired a favourite local copywriter of mine who nailed the copy first time. In the end she only cost a little more and because she could meet the client, we formed a great team and work to this day together.
I put that down as a reminder that I won't work with an overseas writer again.

Oh I have been this route before. In house writers I found are a must.
-
Biggest mistake?
Hiring a content writer overseas, even though that person was "high rated" it was utter crap. Got an in-house writer about 2 weeks after that.
-
May be out of many websites I started with the most important one and made links. And some of the links were low quality ones resulting in bad rankings.

Generally our biggest mistake is not understanding our clients correctly. Some will approach us and tell us that they need to rank terms to get traffic to their site which is normal. Some tell us just to get traffic to their site. We have found that we have to settle on keywords no matter what, because even if we get thousands of real visitors to a site, it really matters what keywords we are using to a client regardless if they are still relevant. I have had clients get mad that we weren't ranking them for terms like "toys" for example for $325 a month.
We learn on a daily basis on how to better serve our customers, but something new always comes up.
Have a nice day.

"Deal of the day" page Fixed url e.g. homepage.com/deal-of-the-day Product description summary Go to product-deal & Buy Now Button Content changes everyday Product Deal Page Similar to other products, sometimes will be a group of products, coupons etc. Product deals will be stored for later re-use Not visible from the main product catalogue These products are most of the time the same products from the catalogue but different copy Recommendations? Are these URL hashtags an SEO issue?
Hi guys - I'm looking at a website which uses hashtags to reveal the relevant content So there's page intro text which stays the same... then you can click a button and the text below that changes So this is www.blablabla.com/packages is the main page - and www.blablabla.com/packages#firstpackage reveals first package text on this page - www.blablabla.com/packages#secondpackage reveals second package text on this same page - and so on. What's the best way to deal with this? My understanding is the URLs after # will not be indexed very easily/atall by Google - what is best practice in this situation?

International SEO Question
_The company I work for has a website www.example.com that ranks very well in English speaking countries - US, UK, CA. For legal reasons, we now need to create www.example.co.uk to be accessible and rank in google.co.uk. Obviously we want this change to be as smooth as possible with little effect on rankings in the UK. We have two options that we're talking through at the moment - Use the hreflang tag on both the .com and the .co.uk to tell Google which site to rank in each country. My worry with this is that we might lose our rankings in the UK as it will be a brand new site with little to no links pointing to it. 301 redirect to the .co.uk based on UK IP addresses. I'm skeptical about this. As a 301 passes most of the link juice, I'm not sure how Google would treat this type of thing - would the .com lose ranking? So my questions are - would we lose ranking in the UK if we use option 1? Would option 2 work? What would you do? Any help is appreciated._

I will give u guys one example bellow: http://www.mediavideoconverter.de/pdf-to-epub-converter.html We also have this domain: http://pdftoepub.de/ How can we deal about the duplicate content, and also how can we improve the first domain product page. If I use the canonical and don't index the second domain and make a link to the first domain it will help anyway? or don't make any difference? keyword: pdf to epub , pdf to epub converter What u guys think about this technique ? Good / Bad ? Is there the second domain giving any value to the first domain page? Thanks in advance.
