Recommendations. Need Hosting Company
-
I need a new hosting company asap. I am based in Costa Rica but need a reliable international service that supports Modx. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
-
A quick search found this, to where they will even migrate the MODX site for you... I have heard of site5 before (nothing bad) but not sure as I have never used.
There are reviews on the page and you can do a search to find others opinion.
But, just as a standard 99.9% of servers will "support" MODX, but it depends are you asking if the support staff is knowledgeable and proficient in MODX?
My favorite hosts are
Rackspace for enterprise and Hostgator for small business and fatcow/ipage/startlogic for personal or shared sites.
hope this helps

Hosting services are really hard to choose. Everyone will have their own experiences.
In my experiences, I usually look at webhostingtalk.com because they have a large amount of webmasters that post reviews of certain companies.
Find a couple of hosting companies that fit your budget.
Then Google them for reviews or search at webhostingtalk.com
Always worked for me

Another company is coming up in search results when I type in my phone number
If I search for my client's phone number on Google, without gaps, ie 02036315541, another company comes up at the top of the list. This company has a similar name to ours, but it is in a different town and it does different things. My company name is Energy Contract Renewals https://www.energycontractrenewals.co.uk/ and their company is https://energyrenewals.co.uk. As far as I can see, the other company does not mention our phone number anywhere on their site or on their GMB page so I don't know why they are coming up. We do not come up at all for this search. However, if I put our phone number in like this: 020 3631 5541, our company does come up and the other company does not. Anyone know how I can correct this or if it is even possible to do something about it?

Bay Area E-Commerce SEO Firm Needed
So my e-commerce site recently got hit badly with the latest Penguin update. Traffic is down by 60%. We were using a cheap Indian SEO firm who did get us great results but it seems they was a lot more spamming than I realized. I am now looking to clean up my backlinks and create a new relationship with a local business so I can be more hands on with my SEO. Does anyone have any recommendations for SEO firms that have experience in e-commerce? Ideally somewhere in the Bay Area or even Sacramento?

Is it better to have hosting that specializes in performance or have the host closer to you physically?
I am looking to change to a new hosting company. I am debating between taking a company that specializes in Wordpress and performance but is situated far from my users or a local company that might not be as good from a performance/speed point of view. Which do you think I should go with? My users are near Europe and the Wordpress hosting that I am considering is in the US.

Need Advice: How should we handle this situation?
Hi Folks, We have a blog post on one of our sites that ranked very highly for lucrative term for about a period of two months. It had over 2000 Facebook likes, about 20 tweets and the same amount of Google +1's. The post ended up receiving several high quality natural links, and we also pointed a few authoritative links to it from our network of sites. After we saw the ranking starting to slip we did a bit of link building (which we shouldn't have done) and ended up making a big mistake. The link building company was only supposed to do 30 links and they ended up doing 600. Once we figured it out, we immediately submitted a disavow request and told Google about our mistake. I also thought maybe we then had a manual spam penalty applied so I also submitted a reconsideration request (and also told them about our mistake) but got back a canned reply saying "no manual penalties" were found. After we did all that, we saw the rankings fall out of the top 50 with the next 10 days. I'm confident we can throw up a new similar blog post and see close the same rankings we experienced with the original post. But before I do that, I have two questions: Should we 301 the old post to the new post? Could that some how "pass" the bad rankings along to the new post? What should we do about the natural links we received? Should we try and reach out to the sites and get them to change their links to the new post? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Help needed please with 301 redirects in htaccess file.
In summary, we're currently having issues with our htaccess file. 301 redirects are going through to the new described URL but in addition the new URL is followed by a ? and the old URL. How can we get rid of the ? and previous URL so they don't appear as an ending. None of the examples we've found re this issue online appear to work. Can anyone please offer some advice? Can we use a RewriteRule to stop this happening? Here's a summary of the htaccess file REDIRECT CODE BEGINS HERE LONG LIST OF REDIRECTS, which appear to be set up perfectly fine. Site Hosting Question
We are UK based web designers who have recently been asked to build a website for an Australian Charity. Normally we would host the website in the UK with our current hosting company, but as this is an Australian website with an .au domain I was wondering if it would be better to host it in Australia. If it is better to host it in Australia, I would appreciate if someone could give me the name of a reasonably priced hosting company. Thanks Fraser

A client will be translating their entire site into French in addition to English. For SEO purposes, should I host it on the same domain or create its own dedicated domain?
The current site is a long-standing site with good authority and a good number of links. Thanks....
