Hi Devanur
Thank you for responding to my question. Our project is almost done and I would like to show it to you before publishing. Let me know if you are interested.
I truelly think we accomplished both.

Hi Carla,
Thanks for stopping by and asking a question. While there are many great websites that implemented parallax scrolling, only few of them were able to strike a balance between both, SEO and UX. Please accept my sincere apology for not being able to name them here for many obvious reasons. However, let me tell you few things about your project at hand. If your website is not in to creative niches like, design (can be website design also), art, e-commerce (catalogue websites), studio etc..
1. you should be giving more emphasis to the quality of the content and its size on the homepage especially if you want to rank for any keyword /phrase using with your homepage.
2. Good content of about 600 words should be great with a keyword density of around 1% (this is excluding the keyword presence in other indexable content on the page like the meta information, heading tags, image alt text, image titles).
3. Good code to text ratio, though this is not a hard and fast rule. Personally, I like it to be around 25%.
4. Sizeable content in the first fold and this does not mean to dump all your content in the first fold.
5. Other on-page SEO factors.
If you are into the creative niche, you can lean a bit more towards the UX side.
Hope the above help and again please accept my apology if my response has not lived up to your expectation.
I wish you all the very best for your up-coming project.
Best regards,
Devanur Rafi.

Hi Devanur,
We are about to re-do our site with SEO and Parallax. Can you recommend any great sites that use both methods?
Thanks
Carla

Hi there,
Technically, with parallax scrolling, you are dealing with a single page. Ideally, from an SEO stand point, it is highly recommended to target one keyword /phrase per page. So if you are targeting one keyword with your parallax scrolling page, provided you have good content on it, then you are good. Especially after the page layout algorithm from Google, it is good to have sizeable content in the top fold. This holds good for any type of websites.
There is no doubt that with a technique like parallax scrolling you will definitely grab a lot of attention and love from your visitors, in fact this can heighten the site engagement times to a great extent. So the user experience is taken care of as long as the page serves the purpose of its visitors. So SEO is all about striking a balance between pleasing the visitors and search engines. You can take care of finicky search engine spiders by giving them what they love and that is great content with right keywords taking the right places on the page.
As far as SEO is concerned, targeting multiple keywords /phrases on a page leads to keyword dilution and we should ideally target a single keyword /phrase per page.
Best regards,
Devanur Rafi.

SEO of Social Media Pages
I have noticed something odd about how Google ranks social media pages, and was hoping someone would have a good explanation. When I search for a particular name in Google, the first two results are Twitter pages of two people who share the same name. #1 is an older account with more Tweets, but it has fewer followers, no external backlinks, and the URL is unrelated to the name #2 is a newer account, but it has more followers, a few external backlinks, and the name itself is in the URL. It has fewer overall Tweets, but has Tweeted more frequently over the past several months. #2 is also happens to be in the same City as I am. Given my understanding of Google's ranking factors, I would not have expected #1 to outrank #2. In fact, I would not have expected #1 to even be on the first page. What could be causing #1 to rank so highly? Does it make sense that the age of the account or the number of Tweets would affect SEO at all? Really, I am just trying to understand what are the main factors that determine the ranking of social media profile pages. Thanks

Google Blogger Intergration, any SEO benefit?
I want to use google blogger for my website blog, we want to intergrate it into the existing website (which is why wordpress isn't ideal as there is no php) if the domain was www.blog.mysite.com will www.mysite.com still recieve the seo bonuses of having a blog? or does it have to be www.mysite.com/blog otherwise i have little use for a blog, what i also want to ask is how does it intergrate? i don't want the blog on my site to be like a 'window' into the google blog site as that defeats the purpose, i need the content to actually be on my site to ensure the seo benefits. Thanks Dan

How a change in IP address affects SEO?
Our domain is pretty mature, has several quality backlinks - ranks well for our key terms - but we need to change our IP address because we use a cloud provider and it's a shared IP that has had a security breach. How will this affect rankings? www.layer7.com

Web server locations for international seo
We have a site that is currently hosted in the far east for the far eastern market. We are having issues with the hosting co. so we are considering bringing the site back onto our servers in the UK. However, we don't obviously want to damage too much the bit of uplift we get from local hosting. What is our best approach? Is it ok just to have the site in the UK even though its aimed at the Far East? Or is the use of a proxy server good? Or should we look for other local hosts? Any help very gratefully received. Iain

Webshop migration & SEO
Hi there I am migrating all products from my current trade website http://shop.snowbusiness.com/ to another platform. Whilst both are live, would i have to worry too much about duplicate content and no-follow the pages or is this overkill? Cheers, Ben

SEO Tomfoolery
Oh Hai, I recently changed the permalink structure on my Wordpress based site, southwestbreaks.co.uk from the standard ?p=123 to a more SEO chummy /%postname%/. As a result, my site has completely dropped off the board for all my previously well ranked search phrases. Having since gotten into SEOmoz a bit more, I can see there are WP plugins available that apparently would've done this a lot more smoothly. I'd be most grateful if someone could explain if this drop off is just temporary, or have I somehow entered Google's shun book? The site has been like this for about 48 hours. Thanks, Tim
