Duplicate content showing on local pages
-
I have several pages which are showing duplicate content on my site for web design. As its a very competitive market I had create some local pages so I rank high if someone is searching locally i.e web design birmingham, web design tamworth etc..
http://www.cocoonfxmedia.co.uk/web-design.html
http://www.cocoonfxmedia.co.uk/web-design-tamworth.html
http://www.cocoonfxmedia.co.uk/web-design-lichfield.html
I am trying to work out what is the best way reduce the duplicate content. What would be the best way to remove the duplicate content?
1. 301 redirect (will I lose the existing page) to my main web design page with the geographic areas mentioned.
2. Re write the wording on each page and make it unique?
Any assistance is much appreciated.

I would say for sure number 2. Re-write/word the pages and use it as a chance to put some more fresh content in as well.
All the best

In most cases I've seen I'd say make the content on each page unique, but in your case I'd say 301 them to the main page where you're based (yes, you will 'lose' them if you 301). You're misleading customers - your search result for [lichfield web design] for example would give potential clients the impression that you're based in Lichfield, and when they click through to see you're not some are likely to press 'back' straight away. Increased bounce rates can lower your search rankings.
Also, I wouldn't write like this "At every stage of the creation of your web design Tamworth and web development process" - it looks spammy and you should really be writing for people, using natural language. I'd imagine that sort of wording is likely to put some clients off. It's not necessary to keyword stuff, you can write natural content that still uses your keywords, and they don't have to be together. "We are a web design company based in Tamworth" does the trick, sounds natural, and keeps the 3 words close together. "Web Design Tamworth" is okay in the title for me, though some may disagree.
If you visit potential clients that could be a way you could naturally get the other locations onto your main location page ("Serving Tamworth, Lichfield and Stafford" for example) or you could say "only xx miles from Lichfield", or give directions if you have a public-facing office. I wouldn't list too many places though as again, it will look spammy.

Too many links pointing to our privacy policy page: Hurting our ranking efforts of main pages?
Hi community, As per the "Links" report from GSC, there are millions of pages pointing to our privacy policy page. We can expect high number of links to this page being ours an open source product. But these links are overtaking the count of links pointing to our homepage which are very artificial from few spammy or low quality sites. "Privacy policy" anchor text is also been the top anchor text. Our homepage ranking dropped and I suspect this is the culprit. Google might be considering this is the important page being linked on top with anchor text. Shall I Disavow these sites and will this makes Google stop counting links, and the anchor text coming from these sites as well? Suggestions please. Thanks

Hacked Websites (Doorways) Ranking First Page of Google
Hello Moz community! I could really use your help with some suggestions here with some recent changes I've noticed in the Google serps for terms I've been currently working on. Currently one of the projects I am working on is for an online pharmacy and noticed that the SERPs are being now taken up by hacked websites which look like doorways to 301 redirect to an online pharmacy the hacker wants the traffic to go to. Seems like they may be wordpress sites that are hacked and have unrelated content on their websites compared to online pharmacies. We've submitted these issues as spam to Google and within chrome as well but haven't heard back. When searching terms like "Canadian Pharmacy Viagra" and other similar terms we see this issue. Any other recommendations on how we can fix this issue? Thanks for your time and attached is a screenshot of the results we are seeing for one of our searches. 1Orus

How do I make a content calendar to increase my rank for a key word?
I've watched more than a few seminars on having a content calendar. Now I'm curious as to what I would need to do to increase ranking for a specific keyword in local SEO. Let's say I wanted to help them increase their rank for used trucks in buffalo, NY. Would I regularly publish blog posts about used trucks? Thanks!

LOCAL SEO / Ranking for the difficult 'service areas' outside of the primary location?
It's generally not too hard to rank in Google Places and organically for your primary location. However if you are a service area business looking to rank for neighboring cities or service areas, Google makes this much tougher. Andrew Shotland mentions the obvious and not so obvious options: Service Area pages ranking organically, getting a real/virtual address, boost geo signals, and using zip codes instead of service area circle. But I am wondering if anyone had success with other methods? Maybe you have used geo-tagging in a creative way? This is a hurdle that many local business are struggling with and any experience or thoughts will be much appreciated
