How can i find the top keywords generating traffic, Both paid and organic, for my competitors? Are there specific tools out there I can use if I dont have access to their Google Analytics account?
-
SEMRush shows wrong organic traffic data when i go for my website it shows 20% of my actual google organic traffic

Hi Rich,
Did these answers help you, or are you still looking for some more insight?

I love SEMRush for this. Give it a keyword and it'll show you the top organic and paid listings. Give it a URL and it'll give you organic and paid keywords for that URL.
SEMRush (and all tools) can only give an estimate as to the amount of traffic. These tools base these calculations by looking at the position of the competitor in the SERP, the search volume per month of that keyword, and the likelihood of someone clicking on that result.
If you know that x% of people click on the top organic result and you know how many people are searching per month for that keyword, then you can get a pretty good idea of what the traffic is going to be like for that URL.
As for which keywords are converting... you'll need Google Adwords / Analytics for that. You could ask your competitors for access which would be funny, but obviously refused!
But keep in mind, if you trying to find the "top" keywords, tools like SEMRush only report the keywords that are in use / working for a given competitor. It doesn't mean there aren't other keywords you should look into - keywords that your competitors aren't ranking for at all. In fact, that's the goal... find the keywords your competitors don't know about (and therefore tools like SEMRush don't know about).

Google Keywords Tools can give you an idea for what keywords are driving traffic.
As far as your competitors, check out Spyfu.
These are fairly 'basic' and easy to use. There are more advanced/expensive routes, but I am sure these would give you a good start/good results.

Search traffic steady, Landing pages receiving traffic had massive drop
Following the week of Google's major algorithm update in January, we saw this graph in our Moz dashboard. (green bars are # of landing pages receiving traffic from search, blue line is traffic from search) Traffic from SEO grew slightly, but number of landing pages receiving traffic fell by more than 50%. We didn't make any changes to sitemap, rel=canonical, number of pages being published, etc. Traffic from top keywords held consistent. Number of pages/images google crawled and indexed grew per webmaster tools. Big spike in Nov/Dec is because we are in retail, seasonal not technical issues. Is anyone else experience the same thing? An algo change? Or something more specific to our site? Quality traffic is what we care about, so number of pages traffic is going to could be a positive thing (easier to optimize). But jury is out. What web page and domain analysis / error checking / testing tools do you use for competitor analysis? sites like webpagetest
Just wondering what everyone is using, I am looking to get as much insight and detail as I can on websites that are not currently being monitored by me... i.e. potential clients. I use tools like pagespeed, webpagetest, loadimpact and open site explorer, google adwords, ispionage, alexa, semrush and well, looking for more. I really just want to rip a website to the tiniest pieces possible in an organized and coherent manner... is there anything out there? I have tried several other's which i no longer use (compete, 4q, woopra, nuestar, to name a few), I am not sure if I know exactly what i want, i just want more.... damn the human condition. lol

Capitalisation of campaign keywords - why does this affect traffic but not rankings?
Having accidentaly entered keywords into my campaign with both upper-case initial letters ("Product Design") and lower-case initial letters ("product design") I find that the rankings are, as expected, identical. However, the traffic generated by the keywords is markedly different. Does this mean that the two versions of the keyword should be treated like totally seperate keywords in future? Indeed, should I be entering all variants of capitalisation into future keyword campaigns (such as "product Design" and "Product design") if I wish to get the full picture in future? Any answers would be welcome. David in Scotland

Any plans to allow direct comparison between a selected website (client) and top competitors?
Hi, I really like the SEOMoz keyword difficulty tool. It currently reports metrics between the top 10 positions. Is there any plan to introduce the facility to directly compare metrics between a selected website and that of other competing websites. For example, a clients' website compared to the top 10 results, or compared to a number of other selected competiors websites? Best wishes, David
