Can someone tell me how in the heck this site is ranking?
-
Just saw a huge update on the Serps for "SEO Company" and "Seo Firm " and this site has tons of big Google no's no's going to it. www.seospecialists.co it has links coming from Porn and Gambling sites. It is heavily over optimized for both keywords.
I won't cry the sky is falling[SEO is broke] but I am curious to know why Google thinks they are worthy to rank that high.
-
well in that case .. it does not look like accidental at all .. but i wonder why on earth they are doing this.. don't they know that it will backfire their website sooner or later..
-
Hi Matt, they are far from accidental, but are certainly helping this website in my professional opinion to rank. Especially since many of them are not sitewide and only on the homepage of client sites.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Todd -
But when the links are in the Footer and it says SEO by them I don't think it was an accidental thing

_Just because the website has got bunch of spammy links from porn and gambling sites does not necessarily mean that the website will not rank high. Moreover, I personally do not think the people working there would not be that idiot to get link backs from porn sites. Probably, negative SEO could be in the action; you never know. And as it appears, author rank has a role to play here. _

Hi Matt. Possibly something black hat is going on, but from a pure metrics standpoint alone its possible for this website to rank well in Google.com with those links and factors, in my opinion.
Plenty of SEO companies utilize client footer links to generate positive rankings and are successful at it.
-
On the surface, yes that is true. What I find really interesting is when I put the site on Ahrefs.com it was showing that almost none of their links are site wide, AND in contrast, may of the pages on those sites are showing up to be in fact site wide.
Something is fishy with them. Definitely something black hat is going on with the site.

Hi Matt,
1. This website shows a total of 3,413 linking root domains in OSE, a DA (domain authority) of 71/100, and a PA (page authority) of 76/100
2. A considerable number of the links pointed at this website utilize exact match or associated / related long term targeted phrases. Many of the links are from client homepages.
3. They link to their homepage extensively in the footer using keywords.
4. They have a lot of content, although I am not a judge of the quality of content they are publishing.
Those 4 factors are enough to rank well, if not at the top, in many niches.
Hope this helps!
Todd

Content from Another Site
Hi there - I have a client that says they'll be "serving content by retrieving it from another URL using loadHTMLFile, performing some manipulations on it, and then pushing the result to the page using saveHTML()." Just wondering what the SEO implications of this will be. Will search engines be able to crawl the retrieved content? Is there a downside (I'm assuming we'll have some duplicate content issues)? Thanks for the help!!

Can an AJAX framework (using HTML5 + pushstate) on your site impact your ranking?
Hello everybody, I am currently investigating a website which is rendered by an AJAX Framework (Angularjs) using the HTML5 +API history - Pushstate methods.

Recently Google announced that they are able to execute Javascript and can therefore see the content and links to discover all pages in the structure. However it seems that it doesn't run the Javascript at ALL times. (after some internal testing) So technically it is possible it arrives on a page without seeing any content and links, while another time he can arrive, run Javascript and read/discover the content and links generated by AJAX.
The fact that Google can't always interpret or read the website correctly can therefore have negative SEO impact? (not the indexation process but ranking) We are aware that is better to create a snapshot of the page but in the announcement of Google they state that the method that is currently used, should be sufficient. Does anybody have any experience with this AND what is the impact on the ranking process? Thanks!0 -

Authority site drastic ranking drop after google https switch. Please Help!
Hi Mozers. Since Google switched to the https version, our company website (http://we.register.it) indexing switched to the https version (https://www.register.it). After that the ranking on Google dropped for almost every keyword. The site is very old and got a great authority and PR 7. It ranked for same keywords for very long time On each page from years there is the correct meta rel canonical. No spam, and WMT is ok. Could you please help? The internal links are all in http, and in https. If you are https are in https (they are all relatives) No changes have been made and the subdomain is in that way from 8 years: the main url has always been http://we.register.it Google started this indexing switch around the 15 October

How hard is it to rank above a site that has 300 back links from dex?
I am new to SEO and have started my keyword research. One keyword I would like to rank for has a competing site with over 400 back links, 300 of which are from dex. How hard would it be to outrank links coming from dex?
