5xx Server Errors
-
Hey all,
Recently my site has seen a rise in 5xx errors which have all popped up since the first of the year.
Our company made a big announcement on 1/4 which drove a lot of traffic to the site, which I thought may be a reason for the sudden errors. But the errors have since continued. Also, the crawl from last week showed no errors at all (which I'm sure was a fluke)
Taking a closer look in GA, the pages that are receiving errors have not been visited for months.
Is this a random occurrence or should I consult someone to investigate our server?
Thanks,
Chris -
The crawl is showing that the errors are happening on very specific pages, so it may be a simpler solution like what you're describing.
-
One client I recently worked with had CloudFlare installed and it was causing tons of 500 errors. We removed it and they went away. Like I said see if you can identify specific pages it's happening on and isolate the code that is on those pages only. Good luck!

Thanks for the input, guys.
Looks like the move to make right now is double check code, then if the problem persists, dig into server issues.
-
This could also be something as simple as a bad code on some pages too. look at those old pages and see if there is a template or something associated with these pages that only they share. Might be isolating a script or disabling a plugin.

5xx errors refer to server errors, and can be caused by serious issues with the way your server is configured. I would definitely look investigate it further.

Could my Crawl Error Report be wrong?
HI there, I am using Yoast SEO plugin on a wordpress website. I am currently showing 70 Med priority crawl errors 'missing meta description' on my Moz pro account. This number of missing meta descriptions has increased over the last 6 weeks. But every single page / post / tag / category has both the title and meta description completed via Yoast. I requested a google bot to crawl the site a few weeks ago as thought it perhaps wasn't been crawled and updated. Any idea what the issue might be? Could the Moz report be incorrect for some reason? Or could something be blocking Moz / Google from seeing the Yoast plugin?

18 404 errors on pages that are actually fine.
Hi, I just used the compain tool to look for errors on my site and it appears that seomoz crawler finds 18 404 errors on pages that are fine in my good. I do proceed with a URL rewritting on those pages, but navigation is fine. Some of the pages are: http://cassplumbingtampabay.com/about-us http://cassplumbingtampabay.com/commercial-services http://cassplumbingtampabay.com/drain-cleaning-repair ... Does anybody know what's going on?

5xx (Server Errors)-in Wordpress
Since going to a wordpress platform in November, I have seen many 501 server errors in the crawl report. When I click on the link in the report however, the link shows the actual page with no errors. I reviewed all the Q&A but didn't see anything related to this issue. Does anyone have an idea as to why the actual link works when I click on it but the SEOMOZ crawl bot is showing a 5XX error. Thanks for any ideas or feedback you may have.

How do I fix a duplicate content error with a top level domain?
Hi, I'm getting a duplicate content error from the SEOmoz crawler due to an issue with trailing slashes. It's showing www.milengo.com and www.milengo.com/ as having duplicate page titles. However I'm pretty sure this has been fixed in the .htaccess file since if you type in the domain with a trailing slash it automatically redirects to the domain without a trailing slash, so this shouldn't be an issue. I'm stuck here. Any ideas? Thanks. Rob

90% of our sites that are designed are in wordpress and the report brings up "duplicate" content errors. I presume this is down to a conical error?
We are looking at getting the Agency version of SEOMoz and are based in the UK Could you please tell me what would be the best way to correct this issue as this appears to be a problem with all our clients websites. an example would be www.fsgenergy.co.uk Would you also be able to suggest the best SEO plugin to use with SEOMOz ? Many thanks Paul
