5xx Server Errors
-
Hey all,
Recently my site has seen a rise in 5xx errors which have all popped up since the first of the year.
Our company made a big announcement on 1/4 which drove a lot of traffic to the site, which I thought may be a reason for the sudden errors. But the errors have since continued. Also, the crawl from last week showed no errors at all (which I'm sure was a fluke)
Taking a closer look in GA, the pages that are receiving errors have not been visited for months.
Is this a random occurrence or should I consult someone to investigate our server?
Thanks,
Chris -
The crawl is showing that the errors are happening on very specific pages, so it may be a simpler solution like what you're describing.

One client I recently worked with had CloudFlare installed and it was causing tons of 500 errors. We removed it and they went away. Like I said see if you can identify specific pages it's happening on and isolate the code that is on those pages only. Good luck!

Thanks for the input, guys.
Looks like the move to make right now is double check code, then if the problem persists, dig into server issues.
-
This could also be something as simple as a bad code on some pages too. look at those old pages and see if there is a template or something associated with these pages that only they share. Might be isolating a script or disabling a plugin.

5xx errors refer to server errors, and can be caused by serious issues with the way your server is configured. I would definitely look investigate it further.

Could my Crawl Error Report be wrong?
HI there, I am using Yoast SEO plugin on a wordpress website. I am currently showing 70 Med priority crawl errors 'missing meta description' on my Moz pro account. This number of missing meta descriptions has increased over the last 6 weeks. But every single page / post / tag / category has both the title and meta description completed via Yoast. I requested a google bot to crawl the site a few weeks ago as thought it perhaps wasn't been crawled and updated. Any idea what the issue might be? Could the Moz report be incorrect for some reason? Or could something be blocking Moz / Google from seeing the Yoast plugin?

Magento creating odd URL's, no idea why. GWT reporting 404 errors
Hi Mozzes! Problem 1 GWT and Moz, both are reporting approximately one hundred 404 errors for certain URL's. Examples shown below. We have no idea why or how these URL's are being created in Magento. Any hypothesis on the matter would be appreciated. The domain name in question is http://www.artorca.com/ These are valid URL's if /privacy is removed. The first URL is for a product, second for an artist profile and third for a CMS page 1. semi-abstract-landscape/privacy 2. jose-de-la-barra/privacy 3. seller-guide/privacy What may be the source for these URL's? What solution should we implement to fix existing 404's? 301 redirects should be fine? Problem 2 Website pages seem to also be accessible with index.php in the domain name. Example Artorca.com/index.php/URL's. Will this cause a duplicate content issue? Should we implement 301's, canonicals, or just leave as is? Cheers! MozAddict

Can someone explain the attached on page error message?
Two weeks ago, I took down our mobile site and switched to one on dudamobile. However, for some reason, I keep getting this error/improvement message on my on page report. I do not see how I can have a cannocial problem with a page that is no longer there. Can someone explain that and what I can do about it? Thanks! eQTNRD6.png

Find a 4xx or 5xx link referenced in an SEO Crawl Report
So I just got the Crawl Diagnostics report for a client site and it came back with a number of 4xx errors and even 1 5xx error. So while I can find the URL that has the problem, I cannot find the pages that have the links pointing to these non-existent or problematic pages. Normally I would just search the database for the site, but in this case I don't have access to it as the site is on a proprietary platform with no access other than to the CMS. Is there anyway to get the linking URL from the report? Thanks!

Duplicate content error?
I am seeing an error for duplicate content for the following pages: http://www.bluelinkerp.com/contact/ http://www.bluelinkerp.com/contact/index.asp Doesn't the first URL just automatically redirect to the default page in that directory (index.asp)? Why is it showing up as separate duplicate pages?

Exporting ranking stats; errors
previously, when I went to export the weekly rank stats, the csv opened into excel and everything was fine. This week, one campaign data will not export other than purely in comma deliniated and will not translate to colums in ecel. A second campaign does export directly to excel but the data showing (on 27th June) is for the 22 february (report created march 1). so all my spread sheets for position analysis are up the creek and I cant even get last weeks positional report on my key domain. any thoughts??
