Does image load and other files counted as hits/visits/unique visits in AWStats (CPanel)?
-
Thanks in advance!
-
Thanks Sean, another question: Do you consider image load or any files as part of the traffic stats in AWstats?
-
If you want in depth stats that you can use to move SEO forward then you should use a package such as analytics or webtrends.
However if you have a smallish site that you do not need a lot of in-depth data from the stats (you just want to see the pages people land on and the number of visitors each month) then AWstats is fine.
I use AWstats on my smaller and local sites.
I also use Google ananlytics at the same time.
I hope this helps

Thanks Sean! Another question, why we shouldn't use AWstats to measure marketing efforts?
-
You have 3 different measurements here
A hit - should be any file requested from the server, so an image would add a hit, if you have a page with 2 images and 1 block of text that is 4 hits, 1 for the page, 1 each for the images and 1 for the text.
A visitor is best thought of as a person or IP address visiting the site, 1 visit is recorded each time the IP address visits your site.
A unique is recorded the first time an IP address visits the site but not the second or third, this is normally in a 30 day period. So if I visit your site 3 times today and then again in April you would see 1 unique from me this month and 1 in April.
You would expect to see the Hits being the highest followed by visitors and finally uniques.
I hope this helps
Sean

Google Analytics / Facebook UTM
Hello, I have a quick question. I am setting up conversion tracking for my Facebook ads, so I am giving each ad set a tracking URL (UTM) in order to see which ads are converting etc. Is it possible to see on analytics how much I am spending on these ads or a cost per conversion? Or does the tracking merely track general analytics data such as bounce rate, exit rate, revenue generated etc? Kind Regards, James

Collecting post codes / zip codes in Google Analytics - Terms of Service
Hi Mozzers, Just reading up on Google Analytic's Terms of Service and wondering if collecting post codes / zip codes (from a website's 'Find my nearest...' tool) adhere's to the following: "You will not (and will not allow any third party to) use the Service to track, collect or upload any data that personally identifies an individual (such as a name, email address or billing information), or other data which can be reasonably linked to such information by Google." What do you think?

Does anyone know where in Google Analytics I can find the number of clicks/Facebook Shares?
I'm trying to track in Google Analytics how many people are clicking the Facebook "share" button. I'm not sure if I have it properly set up. Here's the link that I followed to set up the tracking in analytics: http://www.simoahava.com/analytics/google-tag-manager-track-social-interactions/

When javascript is disabled, does a visit register goal completion in Google Analytics?
I'm looking for reasons why Google Analytics goal completions would appear to be fewer than the actual known number of online sales for a company, and I'm wondering if disabled javascript is likely to be the primary cause of a discrepancy. Thanks for any insight you have.

Hi, Its my third thread here and i have created many like it on many webmaster communities.I know many pro are here so badly needs help. Robots.txt blocked 2k important URL's of my blogging site http://Muslim-academy.com/ Especially of my blog area which are bringing good number of visitors daily. My organic traffic declined from 1k daily to 350. I have removed the robots.txt file.Resubmitted existing Sitemap.Used all Fetch to index options and 50 URL submission option in Bing Webmaster Tool. What Can I do know to have these blocked URL's back in Google index? 1.Create a NEW sitemap and submit it again in Google webmaster and bing webmaster tool? 2.Bookmark,linkbuilding or share the URL's.I did a lot of bookmarking for blocked URL's. Sort referring sites by visit change over time comparison in GA
I can't believe I've never done this before, so I'm going to assume that I previously must have figured it out via excel, but I'm hoping there's an easier way. So I want to compare the referring sites between April and May and see which have sent (specifically) less traffic. The problem with doing a comparison in GA is that it only sorts by the highest traffic for May, when actually I want to see the largest negative change (by number, not percentage) between April and May. Is there a way to do this via the dashboard or am I just going to have to play about in excel for 10 minutes?
