shopping cart platform switch and SEO. What do you suggest? What's the best way to ensure we keep rankings.

In December 2008 I helped a company transition from BV4 to Volusion. Like your situation, our URLs were years old at that point (the original Website launched in 1996).
I really only have 2 pieces of advice:
1. Make sure you've set up your 301 redirects properly (we didn't, and it took 6 weeks to sort out the mess).
2. Hang on for the ride.
Be prepared for a major dip in traffic, particularly if you are re-writing all of the URLs. But take heart. Sometimes the dip is necessary to move onward and upward. Seth Godin wrote a whole book on The Dip. Now might be a good time to buy your CEO a copy.
Cheers! I hope all goes well and that it moves you one step closer to awesomeness!

SEO effect of URL with subfolder versus parameters?
I'll make this quick and simple. Let's say you have a business located in several cities. You've built individual pages for each city (linked to from a master list of your locations). For SEO purposes is it better to have the URL be a subfolder, or a parameter off of the home page URL: https://www.mysite.com/dallas which is essentially https://www.mysite.com/dallas/index.php or http://www.mysite.com/?city=dallas which is essentially https://www.mysite.com/index.php?city=dallas

SEO for a UGC Question and Answers Platform
We are trying out SEO for a UGC Q& A Platform and has been able to generate 15000+ questions in last 4 months. The overall traffic is 50K while SEO traffic is only 4 K even after putting in all basic SEO elements in place and ensuring that we have a google page speed of 73/100. What are some of the items that can be done to push up the traffic through SEO ? Any thoughts .

How can I remove my old sites URL from showing up in Google?
Hi everyone. We have had a new site up for over a year now. When I search site:sqlsentry.net the old url still shows up and while those pages are redirected to .com I'd like to get the .net URL's out of google forever. What is the best way I can go about that?

Where do you find an individual/freelance SEO?
I know Moz has a directory of recommended companies, and I've found that very useful. However, we're really looking for an individual (who, of course, keeps up with the latest best practices and trends in SEO) to optimize our site while we put our time into client sites. We've done Craigslist ads, but those seldom pan out. Have any of you had luck finding part-time SEOs? Where did you find them? Thanks!

Should /node/ URLs be 301 redirect to Clean URLs
Hi All! We are in the process of migrating to Drupal and I know that I want to block any instance of /node/ URLs with my robots.txt file to prevent search engines from indexing them. My question is, should we set 301 redirects on the /node/ versions of the URLs to redirect to their corresponding "clean" URL, or should the robots.txt blocking and canonical link element be enough? My gut tells me to ask for the 301 redirects, but I just want to hear additional opinions. Thank you! MS

SEO timeline / action plans
Hi, My first question here so thanks in advance for any responses. I have built websites / done basic seo for a while but I am now making a real concerted effort to implement everything I learn from seomoz. I am wondering if there is any advice or general timeline of items to implement with existing websites or brand new websites. For example xxx action in week 1, xxx action in week 2 etc A sort of crib sheet or tick lists which I think would help reduce any errors and help schedule items for future planning, especially in larger groups of people . If there is anything or anywhere that might be of help then would be great or if anyone has a rough plan they stick too

Will changing domain registration details affect ranking?
Hi all, I've got a .co.uk site that I want to update the domain registrant account details for. The change will involve registering the domain to a limited company name rather than an individual and possibly changing the registered address. Does anyone know whether this could affect google rankings? I've heard of stories of sites losing their PR because the registrant details have changed and I don't really want that to happen! Thanks in advance for any help

WWW vs Non-WWW/Moving a site to a new CMS/Redirect all of the previous URLs
We are working on a new design for a website, which is currently on a CMS that has non-seo-friendly URLs. There is no redirection of 'www' to non-www or vice versa, or handling of homepage redirection so there is only one instance of 'home'. To move the site in the future, all of these URLs will have to be redirected to their new, and I hope, seo-friendly counterparts. Is it prudent now to redirect the four home page links so there is only one? and to redirect all non-www to 'www' so there is only one instance of each page? Or should I leave it and redirect all of them when the time comes?
