If you are organizing the site structure for an ecommerce site, how would you do it?
-
Should you use not use slashes and use all dashes or use just a few slashes and the rest with dashes? For example,
domain.com/category/brand/product-color-etc OR domain.com/anythinghere-color-dimensions-etc
Which structure would you rather go for and why?
-
I would go with the first choice, or even something like domain.com/category/product (you could always include the brand in the SEO-friendly URL). The only situation where I would use the second option would be if I had a really tiny site, say 50 products or less. I would do it more from a future-proofing viewpoint than any specific SEO reason. With choice #1, if you ever move or replatform your site, it will be far easier to keep your products organized and to implement any necessary 301-redirects than if you choose options #2. It will also be far easier to sort these URLs in a database and then populate new categories on a new site. I suppose I prefer #1 because it makes managing the data easier, particularly on large sites.

Need advice for new site's structure
Hi everyone, I need to update the structure of my site www.chedonna.it Basicly I've two main problems: 1. I've 61.000 index tag (more with no post)2. The category of my site are noindex I thought to fix my problem making the category index and the tag noindex, but I'm not sure if this is the best solution because I've a great number of tag idexed by Google for a long time. Mybe it is correct just to make the category index and linking it from the post and leave the tag index. Could you please let me know what's your opinion? Regards.

Cache Not Working on Our Site
We redesigned our site (www.motivators.com) back in April. Ever since then, we can't view the cache. It loads as a blank, white page but the cache text is at the top saying: "This is Google's cache of http://www.motivators.com/. It is a snapshot of the page as it appeared on Jul 22, 2013 15:50:40 GMT. The current page could have changed in the meantime. Learn more. Tip: To quickly find your search term on this page, press Ctrl+F or ⌘-F (Mac) and use the find bar." Has anyone else ever seen this happen? Any ideas as to why it's happening? Could it be hurting us? Advice, tips, suggestions would be very much appreciated!

Multilingual Structure
Hello fellow SEO fans, I've got a setup that I'm interested in some opinions on. I have a website which has the following setup: www.site.com (english version of the site) www.site.com/nl (dutch version of the site) Now, my experience tells me the dutch version would be written in dutch (not using Google Translate) and the meta data et al should also be in dutch. But my question is: If somebody in, say, Netherlands perform a search in english for a specific keyword, we would want the www.site.com page to appear in the SERPs, not the www.site.com/nl page, because the person has searched in english. However, because there's a www.site.com/nl page, purely the /nl page will be optimized and linked to in order to rank it higher in the SERPs for dutch searches and not english searches? But if that's the case, then the person in the Netherlands searching for the english version of the keyword, probably won't see www.site.com in the ranks because of targeting and keyword distribution? Bit of a tricky situation that I've been pondering over and can't quite put the nail on the head. Any assistance would be appreciated.

How can you get the right site links for your site?
Hello all, I have been trying to get Google to list relevant site links for my site when you type in our brand name, Loco2 or for when Loco2 comes up in a search result. Different things come up when you search Loco2 and Loco 2. We would like site links to look like how they do when you search Loco 2. However Loco2 is our brand name, NOT Loco 2. Does anyone know why Google is doing this and whether we can influence results? We have done as much as possible via Google webmaster, in terms of specifying the links we DO NOT want Google to list for Loco2. However, when you search "Loco2", results only show simple site links. Ideally what we want is: Loco2 to be recognised as the brand NOT Loco 2 The same results (substantial, identical) for Loco2 as for Loco 2 (think o2 and o 2) For the site links to reflect the main pages of our site (Times & Tickets, Engine Room forum etc.) Many thanks in advance! Anila
