Ranking stuck
-
Hello, I have a client with whom we are doing all the "right" things. We have a blog we add relevant content to once a week, we post on facebook, google+, twitter. We have stumbleupon and tumblr links. We have nice high pr links from local non-profits whom we sponsor for charity events. We are in the local citation sites and have 5 real reviews (working on more) But we are stuck anywhere from page 4 to page 2 for most of our keywords, which are all insurance related in the Gainesville area. I would love to hear some fresh ideas! http://dukeinsuranceagency.com , thanks!!

I suspect this isn't so much a general SEO problem as a local SEO problem. Those two worlds have really diverged a lot these days. Generally, you're ranking well for brand terms (you even have expanded site-links) and you come up first in the local 7-pack for "insurance newberry florida".
I suspect the problem is related to Gainesville, and that your local cues aren't very strong. The location (not being in Gainesville) is a stumbling block, and there's no easy answer for that. There are other cues you can tap into, though - the big one is reviews. Reviews still have a big impact on local rankings, and legitimate reviews can go a long way (don't spam them).
David Mihm's piece on Local Ranking Factors is still the go-to, and it shows just how complex this has gotten:
http://www.davidmihm.com/local-search-ranking-factors.shtml
The main thing is that on-page factors (like Gainesville-related keywords) will only take you so far these days. Google is going to treat any "Gainesville"+"insurance" query as having local intent.

How to rank a product page
Hello, I have a product page and just did a little introduction ( 5 lines of text) but I have the feeling this is not enough for google. What is the solution ? Is it to increase the amount of content even though it is not going to be user friendly ? Or will google look at the product page I link too and take into account the content on those subpages to boost my "pillar / product page". Thank you,

How to rank my website in Google UK?
Hi guys, I own a London based rubbish removal company, but don't have enough jobs. I know for sure that some of my competitors get most of their jobs trough Google searches. I also have a website, but don't receive calls from it at all. Can you please tell me how to rank my website on keywords like: "rubbish removal london", "waste clearance london", "junk collection london" and other similar keywords? I know that for person like me (without much experience in online marketing) will be difficult task to optimize the website, but at least - I need some advices from where to start. I'm also thinking to hire an SEO but not sure where to find a trusted company. Most importantly I have no idea how much should pay to expect good results? What is too much and what is too low? I will appreciate all advices.

Tags and Categories Ranking
Hello A few times I have come across tags and categories ranking for some relevant search terms. This seems strange as all category and tag pages would have 0 external links back to them - whereas pretty much every other page on the site would have external links. In most cases thy seem to rank along with the page, for example: for the search term "voiceover recording xxxxx" The voice over recording page will rank, followed by a similar tag page... If I make the tag links 'nofollow' would that help stop this? Cheers

Meta Keywords: Do They Hurt Rankings
I know that Google doesn't use meta keywords, but does it hurt to have anything in there? Just wondering if I need to remove all the meta keywords that are on my site, or are they harmless to have. Also, would meta keywords ever be used by an internal search plug-in if we were to install one in the future, or do they generally look at the product title and description for that info?

What is the best way to track rank?
I'm curious what tools and tracking mechanisms everyone uses to track rank, especially with all of the changes in the last year. I've read a ton of articles that say even in 2014, rank will continue to matter, but besides using the keyword rank tool in Moz, I was hoping to learn what everyone else uses to track rank on a keyword and page level (are those two separate things?).

Case study of site going up the rank
Is there a case study or an online article using good seo techniques (real examples) on how (preferably a small ) site started from point zero, employed good seo practices, moz tools, and went up the ranks? Some thing I can see as real example of taking the site from page 100 to page 1 rank? This would be great for my learning purpose. Thanks
