Question about Wistia and possible other Video Solutions for better SEO?
-
We are considering using Wistia as a more SEO-friendly video solution. In our preliminary tests, we like what we see with the exception of one thing. There is no way for video users to toggle the interactive transcripts on and off. From an aesthetic viewpoint, our team finds the scrolling text extremely visually distracting. For usability and SEO purposes, we know that having the transcript there is important.
Unfortunately in the embed codes, you are limited to either including the interactive transcript, or leaving it out. There is no mechanism to allow users to view it if they want to, but leave it off if they don.t
Has anyone here created a workaround for this problem or found another solution, like Wistia, that has a more aethetically pleasing and user-friendly presentation of trascripts/captions?
Thanks!
Dana

Hi all,
I got and answer to this question from the great folks at Wistia themselves. Yes, it is possible! They were kind enough to allow me to post how to do it in my blog. The instructions and sample code for how to do this can be found here:

Enjoy!

Site videos and rich snippets - where to place video
Hi all, we have product videos that we are putting on our (new) site. The video thumbnail for a product is displayed along with image thumbnails on the product details page i.e. see here: http://www.3wisemonkeys.co.uk/dvd/portable-dvd-player-car/twin-dvd-player/nextbase-sdv48ac/ Click on the video thumbnail and a lightbox pop up window displays the movie. We would like to markup the videos with rich snippet markup. Is this possible with the videos setup in this way (i.e. video displayed in Lightbox) or would we need to embed the video in the product description text on this page (rather than thumbnail with Lightbox popup as it is at the moment) so that we stood a chance of getting a rich snippet on Google SERPs for our product detail pages? Thanks for any help.

Question For Those Who Record Their Own Videos
Hi, This is a quick question for those of you that record your own videos. Currently we record videos using a pretty middle of the road sony HD camcorder. We have some good lighting equipment and mic's etc but I always think that it could be a lot better. I would love to know what kind of recording equipment other use. Someone had said to me to use a DSLR camera with lapel mic which is great and obviously the camera can be used for still photos as well. I am just interested to know if others use that configuration or if people just use your average HD camcorder with good mics etc. Thanks

To use or not to use YouTube - That is the question!
We often get clients asking us what is the best option for getting the most out of their videos. We typically default to this blog post: http://moz.com/blog/hosting-and-embedding-for-video-seo We have had clients question this information, sending us such links as: http://marketingland.com/infographic-video-youtube-wins-google-universal-search-37971

Video Embeding
I would like to ask if somebody know what is the best way to embed video on home page. I read that google does not read i frame. Also it is a problem if i have featured video on home page with link to post where is again the same video? Also it is not a problem if I plan to be changing the videos on the home page in period of the time 1-2months? Also, people can embed video from there, is this not a problem? Thank you for any advice
