Google Webmaster Tools and Open Site explorer's links not matching up
-
My question is why do my GWT's links not match up to the ones on Open Site Explorer. I watched John Mueller's video, and he said that they had problems with the link counts recently. After checking my links today, I can see that the problem is fixed, but my link count differs from Open Site Explorer. On Web Master Tools I have 307 links, but on Open Site Explore I have 42. Has anyone dealt with this problem? thanks.

Hi Peter,
SEOmoz and Google use different crawlers. We're not quite the size of Google, and the server farm we have doesn't quite match theirs either. Simply put, we don't crawl as many URLs as Google, so we won't show as many links.
We DO try to crawl the higher-value links, and we show links for more than just the sites you have verified in Google Webmaster Tools. We also have some nifty metrics along with our links that you won't find at Google.
Things won't ever match up, but looking at the variety of sources for link data will help you get a better idea of the big picture.

I have 702 'No-Index' warnings. Is this bad?
Moz has giving me 702 'No-Indexed Meta-descriptions' warnings. My page has quite a bit of product pages as it is a commercial chemical company which sells cleaning products for restaurants, hospitals, etc. Im wondering if this is effecting my site negatively?

How can competition outrank you if your site has better Domain/Page Authority, More links, and More Social sharing?
Say you have a site that has better Domain/page authority, more links, more social media sharing, and a lot more indexed pages (thanks to blogging) than the competition. Of course all of these metrics are based off of data from SEOMoz open site explorer tool which I am not sure if it produces accurate data. 1. Other than exact match domains or the age of a domain what would be other reasons why competition would outrank you? 2. Can anyone suggest other ways to help increase a sites domain/page authority besides creating more indexed pages, link building, etc..?

Open Site Explorer vs. Linkscape... without mozRank passed how do you measure link value?
Hi all, Since Linkscape was retired we've been struggling without the mozRank passed data for our competitor research. However, I've read that it wasn't a particularly reliable metric to go on so my question is: what makes a link more valuable, in your opinion? I'm trying to work out the relation between Page Authority / Domain Authority / Number of Links etc., ideally to come up with some form of ranking system where we can say: Overall link value = ( (A x Page Authority) x (B x Domain Authority) x (C x Number of Links) ) / Number of Linking Domains or something like that. Is this a good way to go about it? What do you guys look at when using the OSE data? Thanks in advance for your help!

Where in SEOMoz pro can I determine how many .edu and .gov links a competitor's site has?
Like in the SEOBook toolbar where you can click the information button and get the number of links to the domain and specific page for .edu and .gov sites. Thanks, Daniel.

Will Open Site Explorer ever show number of links over time?
OSE is an amazing tool, but do you guys at SEOmoz have any plans to develop it so we can track numbers of links over time. I need to demonstrate to clients how the link building is going, and this would be a great quick report to see how many links you found on a given day, month, year, etc. A bit like magesticSEO backlink history graph, but better 🙂
