Massive Rank Changes in Bing/Yahoo Only - What's up w/ Rank Tracker?
-
I'll be honest, it's pretty shameful how little attention I give Bing and Yahoo. But something recently caught my eye - I have a client who according to rank tracker is all over the place in yahoo/bing...up 20 positions for some kw's, down 12 for others...meanwhile Google's holding steady, and Google data seems mostly accurate - with one exception of showing 46th position for an exact match branded search that they're #1 for.
I know Rank Tracker has been going through some fine tuning, right? I don't manually check Yahoo/Bing - I can't imagine those #'s are accurate though. Am I right to assume it's incorrect data?
Just curious, any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks

We have made many improvements to Rank Tracker and accuracy is a top priority. I would recommend testing out our new super secret Rank Tracker Beta: http://ranktrackerlb.seomoz.org and letting us know if you see any big discrepancies that we need to be worried about. We are working hard every day to make sure this tool is awesome.

I stopped using Rank Tracker a long time ago the other tools they offer don't seem to have many issues. But Rank Tracker like you say got hit hard and I really cannot trust their results. Fine tuning maybe but I've not read anything to make me move back to using Rank Tracker.
And I would say its incorrect yes.

How To Ques. Getting ranked on page one for a keyword when you compete with bigger websites/companies/stores
Can David Beat Goliath. I work with small businesses with top products that are up against big brands and their online presence. If I am working with them to create content that meets the needs of all their stakeholders/customers/prospects to generate revenue I wonder if keyword targeting with content can really pay off to get them page one, #1 position ranking. So I ask you this question? How do you create a story for a small online store that can get ranked on page one for a keyword when you compete with bigger websites (or sites with higher domain authority)? I don't need all the basics, I'm just looking for a key insight or tip that you have found or heard is working for a David to beat a Goliath (and hold their position rank once they get highly ranked). We are up against sites - for viable keywords -who have higher domain authority and in some cases more content or link backs. Also, I've notice in situations when I do get to page one and I'm in position 7 MOZ analytics show low to no traffic coming from it? Yikes, what do I do to improve that? These are top keywords.

Geo / Location-Based Local or City Level Rank Tracking in SEOmoz
Is location-based rank tracking going to be a feature in SEOmoz any time soon? I've seen in a few other company's tools that I can select a city in which to center the search around, for example... if I track the keyword "pizza" and set it to check rankings for "Seattle", it would give me different results than I've I selected "Milwaukee". The reason for the variation in results is due to maps listings in the results sometimes. So, my question is, will location-based rank tracking be coming to SEOmoz soon? Scott

Are seomoz ranking in jeopardy?
A few weeks ago Raventools announced that they would no longer be able to provide tools based on the adwords API, then withdrew that. Rand commented on a thread here discussing that and made similar noises. Today Raventools made an announcement as SERP tracking with wording that sounded a lot like it had more than a little influence from Google. Would I be really paranoid to be wondering whether the Rankings tools in seomoz could be at risk?

UK Google Results .com V's .co.uk
In the UK lots of people use google.com rather than google.co.uk. See: http://weblogs.hitwise.com/robin-goad/2008/04/how_popular_is_googles_pages_from__the_uk_search_option.html The above data is a bit out of date but still I know lots of UK people who search on google.com. When I depersonalise the results and search there is a difference between what I see on google.com V's what I see on google.co.uk. Indeed one of the companies I work for ranks ok on google.co.uk, but not so well on google.com Questions: How would I best track ranking for UK based users who use google.com AND/OR google.co.uk using the SEOmoz tools (or other tools if appropriate)? I note that in "Google Webmaster Tools" you can change the setings to "Target users in United Kingdom". Given the fact that UK users use both google.com AND/OR google.co.uk would it be better to change this to unlisted or deselect the "Target users in" option? Thanks in advance. Justin

Is there any alternatives to Yahoo Site Explorer?
Hi, Is there any alternatives to Yahoo Site Explorer? I want to find backlinks of some unavailable pages and YSE was a great tool to deal with. But when I used tools like Open Site Explorer, ahrefs.com etc., I couldn't find one same like YSE. Because when I tried, it shows'No data available for this URL' where on YSE I found inbound links. What Alternatives Are There? thanks in advance!
