Any good term counters out there?
-
hi guys, i am trying to do an in depth analyses of competitors websites. i am trying to count the how many tines a certain word appears in their website. not just anchor txt but in general. any recommendations? thank you
-
dies this mean i need to go through each of their pages? i was looking for something that would go through all of their pages at once and check for how many times 5 specific key words appear in their pages.
do you know anything like that?

If you download the SEOQuake plugin, it comes with an option to look at keyword density. Click it, and you can see how many times words appear on page. It breaks it up into 1-word, 2-word, 3-word phrases and so on. That should hopefully give you what you need.
Wouldn't spend too much time researching this as I believe there are other stronger ranking factors, but certainly a good plan to get some idea of keyword occurrence.

Nofollow within your site, is it ever a good idea?
I started a new job running a companies E-commerce site. I have been going thought the site, backlinks etc to see what the current status is. I have noticed that they have "no followed some categorises on the (huge) mega menu, but also they have no followed every product form categories. Now personally I would have no follows on the login/register/checkout page, and maybe some external links, but my understanding has always been that by using no follow on internal links you just throwing away google juice. I'm thinking was someone at some stage trying to do some misguided link sculpting with no follow, or I'm I missing something Note: the company does not have brands per say for the product pages and so are not landing pages (the categories are landing pages)

Is this good practise for SEO: www.example.com/testing-once/testing-once.aspx?
My web developer is telling me that it is best practice for SEO to place your keyword in your URL twice. For Example: www.example.com/testing-once/testing-once.aspx. I'm sure that this is not true, could you please help?

Moving Top rank Page urls off my Home page and nesting them on one page? Good idea?
I am basically trying to cut down the amount of links on my home page to make it less eye boggling and move stuff around. So i have of my Urls on my home page that lead to pages that rank very well within google. My questions is can i remove those urls to a separate page to group them together and then showcase that one link to that page on my home page. Is that a good idea or i am going to loose my link juice and position in search? The physical urls on those pages wont change at all.

Customer forum on an ecommerce site, good or bad idea?
Hi, We are an online furniture retailer in Ireland and have been going for about 4 years, there is about 1000 visitors onto the site everyday. We have been thinking of new ways to interact with the customer and build the sites online content and constantly working to improve rankings. Have been toying with the idea of a user/customer forum and was wondering what the general consensus was with that as an idea, I appreciate that there could be negative aspects for the brand and was wondering if anyone had experience of similar and how that was perceived by the user and in what way did people interact with the forum. I assume differently to how they would interact with an "independent" furniture forum. My hope would be that the forum would be used for discussing general home improvements, asking questions relating to the home for community feedback and assistance and other similar home related topics. All thoughts and feed back welcome. Cheers. Eunan.

Is 302 Redirect a bad thing in SEO terms?
I am getting a lot of "302 (Temporary Redirects) = True" on many of my product URL's. What does it mean? Is it a bad thing to get these redirects? And how to fix them? Thanks.

Tag clouds: good for internal linking and increase of keyword relevant pages?
As Matt Cutts explained, tag clouds are OK if you're not engaged in keyword stuffing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYPX_ZmhLqg) - i.e. if you're not putting in 500 tags. I'm currently creating tags for an online-bookseller; just like Amazon this e-commerce-site has potentially a couple of million books. Tag clouds will be added to each book detail page in order to enrich each of these pages with relevant keywords both for search engines and users (get a quick overview over the main topics of the book; navigate the site and find other books associated with each tag). Each of these book-specific tag clouds will hold up to 50 tags max, typically rather in the range of up to 10-20. From an SEO perspective, my question is twofold: 1. Does the site benefit from these tag clouds by improving the internal linking structure? 2. Does the site benefit from creating lots of additional tag-specific-pages (up to 200k different tags) or can these pages become a problem, as they don't contain a lot of rich content as such but rather lists of books associated with each tag? Thanks in advance!
