Hi,
Unless he is intending selling of sections of the business in future, run everything on the one site.

This might be a contentious point, but I would definitely go with a single site - especially if they are starting out.
On a practical level a single site will cost less to do well than doing three sites well. Looking forward it will also cost less to maintain and keep current.
Whilst cost shouldn't be the main driver, it is usually a concern. It does then mean that there has to be a compelling reason to take the more expensive route. The question is really "Is there enough SEO benefit is dong 3 sites over 1 to warrant the additional costs/effort?".
In today's climate I would say not. There certainly was a time when having the 3 sites (presumably with appropriate keyword in each domain) brought significant enough advantage to make this a good approach.
Today though it is much harder to build the authority of a website than it has been in recent years. Those are 3 hotly competed areas and to build authority separately in each could be significant amount of work. Certainly more work than is justified by having 3 keyword focused domains.
I'd do one site well. Build authority to that from across the 3 markets. That way each area is borrowing authority from the others as well. If you pitch it well then having expertise across the three areas will also lend credibility to your pitch and might help with conversions.
There are times when I would consider the multiple site approach. However these are really when each is targeting a different market, or requires a different pitch. In most cases though 1 site is likely to be the best approach.

What to Look for in a Magento Website Developer?
I am considering moving 1 of our sites to a Magento e-commerce platform. If I went down this route we would be keen to find someone who we can hire in-house. However I have never hired a web developer before. What should a developer with experience of launching and building Magento-based e-commerce websites have on their CV? What should I be looking for in terms of knowledge? Any help or advice welcome!

Footer link back to developers domain
I have read a lot about where it is suggested to either not put an attribute link in the footer of a clients site or to no follow it. But I have a little bit different take on the question. How does this work on a large scale? Are these manual penalties, or are they automatic? By large scale, I am talking about big cms programs such as Wordpress, Joomla, and the likes of those. They all have links back to their site in the footer of the default templates. Is this bad? Does it not rally matter on the scale of companies such as this?

Finding a good wordpress web developer for SEO fixes
I have gotten a good audit done of my site now it is time to get the fixes done. I have a developer I worked with for a long time that is good at coding and fixes on my site. However I am not confident in his abilities to execute some of the seo changes that need to be done. Their are some common stuff he can tackle but when it comes to GWT and proper handling of 404's and 301's and other seo tasks I am not sure if he is the right choice.Maybe due to a lack of experience of dealing with the issues I have or is just not his specialty or web devs just don't know seo...lol.... Is obvious a lot of SEO's don't make the changes themselves but leave it up to the devs to handle it their suggestions and fixes. But from my experience devs are not so well versed in seo and you have a hard time knowing if they are doing it correct or can even do it.(of course they will say they can they want your cash and i understand that ). In particular a good amount of wordpress devs claim to know seo but i find that far from the truth.Even when guided to issues some of them will often leave you disappointed. Sorry for my rant! Now to my question , obviously not many SEO's make the actual code changes themselves (how i wish i knew a one that did) are their ones out their that do? If not how do i find a good wordpress dev that can make proper seo changes and knows his stuff....example i need someone who can trouble shoot and track down some serious GWT I have and deal with some hardcore 404 & 301 issues . A lot claim to know but when push comes to shove I have been left disappointed. Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions or recommendations.

Footer backlinks for sites I've developed
I link back to my website via my company name on the footers of sites I develop. Lately I've been changing this to my keyword and mixing and matching. This has been done for new sites I create and old sites I've not seen any benefit so far after a couple of months. Most my clients are hosted on the same server as my main site that it links back to. 1. Is this a bad idea to link back on the same IP?

2. Is footer backlinks to the main developer going to annoy Google?
3. Should I change my main site's server, will it help? All my competitors seem to do it and as far as I can tell they seem to get better results than I do. Because I'm now changing them the reason I see no benefit? Thanks0
