Ashton Kutcher talks about SEO?
-
Search for SEO in Twitter and top result says:
"aplusk: I'm starting to become convinced that people put my name in articles just to improve their SEO or hoping I'll tweet it."
When you click on the result it brings nothing!
Another weird thing, when I search for the sentence and view cached Google result it immediately redirects (which is unusual and annoying). I managed to find a text only version of cache here.
Can somebody please explain what's going on here?
-
Any idea as to why the cache redirects?

Tweets and other social signals do affect SEO.
-
Ashton Kutcher has invested some decent money into Blekko, so it is very obvious he is more then aware of the SEO world. He has also invested into several CRO companies. In regards to deleting the tweet, possibly he wants to keep the media blogs happy.
-
One reason i can think of is that what he sayed didn't make sense, after all, mentioning someone on twitter don't affect anyones SEO.
This or he knows something about Google Algo and don't want to share it with us and is now hiding that precious info
-
Why do you think he deleted that post?
-
Lately Ashton have been even investing in some startups so i wouldnt be surprised at all about his knowledge in SEO.
-
Our industry is in grave need of reputation management.
-
Or he has a paid geek that does his tweeting for him.
-
somebody probably tipped him off along the way about all the "evil people who scam the search engines with SEO"
-
Wouldn't have expected Ashton Kutcher to ever think about SEO
-
He apparently tweeted it at some point, then it appears he ultimately deleted it from his twitter stream. You can also see the tweet here and here. And here's a reference from two days ago with more info

Question about pruning your website/blog for SEO
Hey all, So I checked out "The What, Why, and How of Pruning Your Website for SEO" and recently read ahrefs well known article on seo strategy and both really focused on the idea of removing poorly performing pages on your site for an SEO boost. I've asked this question in a few different ways before but I was hoping to get some more insight into this. If my company's blog has thousands of posts going back 5 years, 99% of which only really had pageviews on the day of their release and then after that receive no traffic, direct or organic, am I better off getting rid of (301) 99% of these posts and only sticking to/improving important/performant posts? Does anyone know how other blogs/sites deal with these sorts of issues. Where one function of the blog is to provide informative articles and the other function to post little tidbits (with barely any copy and rapid relevancy decay rate) meant to promote interaction with the blog community (like polls or one line contest winner announcements). Is this an issue of misusing the blog? For example, should the blog just be used for articles and all contests etc. be moved to social media? Thanks in advance for your insights, Roman

Google + and SEO
Hello, A couple of competitors that I keep an eye on over the last couple of months have been really going for the Google + links and according to Opensite explorer they have over 200 social page metrics for Google +. I was just wondering if there has been an update that I have missed that gives follow links for Google + or does Google + affect Domain authority? And if so can I just use my own Google + account to create these social page metrics or does it depend on someone else sharing my posts? Many thanks

SEO and AddThis implementation question
We recently implemented AddThis social sharing on our Website. I am seeing an undesirable side-effect. In Firefox and Chrome browsers, some kind of tracking snippet appears to be appending to our URLs. This is not happening in IE (or if it is it isn't visible). I am concerned about how these URLs look in the address bar to our visitors and I'm also worried about potential duplicate content issues arising when a spider crawls the site. It appears to only be an issue with our product detail pages. The category pages all seem fine. [I am sure this is because social sharing button are only installed on the product pages]. Here is an example: http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/williams-sound-personal-pa-377#.UFnvkVG-7Aw This URL should be: http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/williams-sound-personal-pa-377 Is there a workaround for this problem? Has anyone else experienced this issue and found a solution? Thanks!

Social Media Marketing focus and priorities for SEO
Hello Mozzers, I'm looking at Social Media Marketing and wondering what counts for most in terms of SEO - (A) shares and likes from specific web pages, or (B) followers, likes, etc., on social media profile pages? What does Google measure vis-a-vis your website? Also, regarding Twitter, if a twitterer forwards on a tweet manually (by inserting RT) - and his RT is then shared, does that count for anything, or is it better for clients if RTweeters simply press the RT button. And should I include URLs in tweets, facebook posts, etc? And do backlinks help beyond increasing website visitor numbers - do any of the social media marketing tools pass juice back to websites via backlinks? Thanks in advance :), Luke

LinkedIn and SEO -- Is there a relationship?
I've analyzed the link profiles for 12 sites recently. I noticed that none included a link from LinkedIn, though each company had links on LinkedIn (I suspect this is because LinkedIn redirects outbound links). Are links on LinkedIn really good for SEO? (IE DO THEY PASS LINK JUICE !!!!!!!????) SuperStock_1491R-1130365.jpg linkedin.jpg linkedin-243x300.jpg

Let's talk about Facebook Comments!
Have you seen Jen's post on the SEO Blog today about Facebook? I am really interested in testing out Facebook comments. Are any of you guys using them? Here are my thoughts: Benefits: Will make it easy for people to comment (assuming they have a facebook account) Their comments are shared on their wall and on their friends' news feeds so you could potentially get a LOT of exposure and traffic. Potential Drawbacks: Who controls the content? If facebook decides to pull this feature will we lose all of our comments? What is the moderation like? Do I get to approve which comments are posted? Some people may be reluctant to comment if they know that their friends are going to see what they wrote. What do you guys think? Are you going to use FB comments?

Widgets like Facebook Like and AddThis - Any Negative SEO?
I could go widget crazy with my website, there are so many cool buttons and linking this and likes and etc. There's one that is used a lot, called "Addthis" that adds a series of small icons to share a page via facebook, twitter, etc. The javascript looks innocent enough, but there's a link, and who knows what google makes of it. Then there are the dozen or so Facebook widgets - are they safe to use without negative SEO consequences? Does anyone know of any other pitfalls with using the numerous addons offered free to enhance your site? Thanks for any wisdom out there! Jean
