Page feedback
-
We recently wrote a new website page to cover the direct mail services our organization offers.
We kept the title tag to 70 characters, the meta description under 150 characters. H1 tag has what we feel is the most important term.
If anyone out there has time to review & provide a little feedback, we'd really appreciate it. It would be great to know if it is built well and providing a solid end user experience.

At the moment, the only links pointing to this page are from our blog.
One bit of content I am contemplating is a short paragraph - What is Direct Mail Marketing?
Literally providing a short definition of it.
The page was activated last Thursday and showing up in some Google results on the 4th/5th page but I am thinking this is probably just a temporary bump for now.
Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice!!!

Only thing I think really needs adding would be image meta. Those pictures look blank to me when browsing as Googlebot so the real googlebot probably has no idea what's there.

Happy Friday to you too!
You can tell the page is written by a writer/marketer. It's very nicely put together and has not been stuffed or "forced" by someone trying to optimise for an algorithm, rather than a person. Very refreshing to see!

Hey Tom,
THANK YOU! Extremely helpful - I thought I was using a little too much content so that insight is much appreciated.
I am more of the writer/marketing guy but those reports are going straight to IT for speed improvements. Thanks for those as well.
Happy Friday.

Hi there
First impressions - I quite like it. It's clean, the navigation looks good, I think the images could be utlilised a bit better, they're a bit small and you can't read the call to action in one of them (which, given your keyword, is a bit of a sin)
Nice use of H1s, H2s, H3s. Nothing looks stuffed/unnatural which is great. Looks like you've got nice interlinking throughout the site, too.
I think you could benefit from a bit more text content. It's a bit thin when you look at it through Google's eyes.
There's something though that I caught when the page was loading. That is, it was a bit slow to load.
Here's a GTmetrix report of the page. This looks at the speed of the page and improvements you could make to it. You'll see here that one of the biggest recommendations is to use browser caching. There's a guide on GTMetrix to help you do that.
But I do like the page - it's not flashy for flashy's sake and it's got a solid base from an SEO perspective. Maybe you could also include a portfolio of some of your design work or a few testimonials from previous clients over the work that you did. Might add a little extra trust to your brand and would also give you a chance to really wow a client with some past designs.

Wrong Page Ranking?!?
I did some research today, one of our keywords is "mobile column lifts." I recently redid a page on our website to target this keyword. When I Google search this keyword I see that a page on our site titled "Reconditioned Mobile Lifts" is ranking for this keyword. I took a look with Moz, our mobile column lifts page ranks 90 for the keyword, and the reconditioned lifts page ranks 73 the keyword. Why is this happening? How can I fix this? https://www.slec.com/mobile-column-lifts/ https://www.slec.com/reconditioned-mobile-lifts/

How to get google to forget my old but still working page and list my new fully optimized page for a keyword?
Hi There! (i am beginner in seo) I have dynamic and static pages on our site. I created a static page for a specific keyword. Fully optimized it, (h1, alt, metas, etc.....maybe too optimized). My problem is that this page is alive for weeks, checked it in GWT and it is in robots.txt, google sees it, and indexed it. BUT whenewer i do a search for that keyword, we still appear with the dynamically created link in the google listings. How could i "redirect" google, if sy make a search for that keyword than shows our optimized page? Is there a tool for that? I cant delete the dynamic page... Any ideas? Thx Andrew

Google showing https:// page in search results but directing to http:// page
We're a bit confused as to why Google shows a secure page https:// URL in the results for some of our pages. This includes our homepage. But when you click through it isn't taking you to the https:// page, just the normal unsecured page. This isn't happening for all of our results, most of our deeper content results are not showing as https://. I thought this might have something to do with Google conducting searches behind secure pages now, but this problem doesn't seem to affect other sites and our competitors. Any ideas as to why this is happening and how we get around it?

From page 1th to page 18th @ Google
Hello Mozzers! I have a question, you may help.. How may it be possible that a page ranking well (1th result) goes from 1th result to the 18th page just in 1 day? It doesnt seem to be any kind of penalization.. I now had all suspicious outgoing links to be nofollow (they were not before), this may be a cause .. (?) Do you have any other suggestion? Thanks

Issue: Duplicate Pages Content
Hello, Following the setting up of a new campaign, SEOmoz pro says I have a duplicate page content issue. It says the follwoing are duplicates: http://www.mysite.com/ and http://www.mysite.com/index.htm This is obviously true, but is it a problem? Do I need to do anything to avoid a google penalty? The site in question is a static html site and the real page only exsists at http://www.mysite.com/index.htm but if you type in just the domain name then that brings up the same page. Please let me know what if anything I need to do. This site by the way, has had a panda 3.4 penalty a few months ago. Thanks, Colin
